one of my close friend is due this aug end.When she had her third trimester scan, Dr told that baby growth is not upto date. its 2 weeks behind. also aminotic fluid level is low. so far she has gained only 2kgs.

Dr told to be in complete bedrest in left side only.
Is there anything to worry Archie?

Sheeja archie replied. your friend might have to be put on IV with glucose saline drops. She should be monitored closely for amniotic fluid for a few weeks until she gets her AFI in normal range. She might have today in normal range but on lower side, it's better to be on safe side especially when baby is 2 weeks behind gestation.
2 weeks is not bad descrapancy but it should not increase then the case will be categorized as IUGR and I suspect that would be only due to scanty amniotic fluid than other solid reasons.

yes, the bed rest while on left side with fluid (over 4 lits per day) and glucon D like solutions will help her feel better and baby to grow.

I am also concerned on her weight gain. Does her mothers family has low weight gain history. if not then she must investigate on that and have diet plan from nutritionist.
