hello archie..

my gynec suggested we do a semen analysis for my husband b4 going ahead with other tests for me.

i read the results out to her and she asked us to meet an andrologist. have fixed appointment for trow. meanwhile i wud like to know ur comments on the test results.

Liquefaction - Delayed
Volume (ref range: >2ml) - 1.0 ml
pH (ref range: 7.2-7.8) - 8.0
Viscosity - increased
Total Sperm concentration (ref range: >20 Mill/ml) - 64 Mill/ml
Progressive motility (grades a+b) (ref range: >50%) - 28%
Non-progressive motility (grade c) - 30%
Immotile sperms (grade d) - 42%
WBC (pus/epithelial cells) - Present(+)
Remarks - ASTHENOSPERMEA

my husband is 29 yrs old. is this a serious condition? will oral medication (to increase motility) suffice?

Pls let me know ur comments; that way i'll feel more confident meeting the andrologist.

PS: if its of any relevance,
* my husband wears loose underpants(boxers)
* is not under any regular medication except for the rare deriphylin or zyrtec he takes for nasal allergy
* has a stressful job (who doesnt!?!)
* does not smoke; drinks occasionally;

krsna,
your husband is suffering with bad quality sperms.
yes he can make a little modification in life sytle,
stop drinking and stop taking strong medications like zyrtec. he can however take antihistamine which are perhaps slow functioning that also if required.

does he wear synthetic boxers, ask him to stop them and change to cotton textured boxers those are good.

he can drink coffee without sugar and milk an hour prior to intercourse.

yes medication has better chances to improve motility.
