Due Date Club July 2008:Honey and ginger are they safe???

I just read on this site that Honey and ginger are heaty stuff. I have been eating honey since my 3rd month everyday as I like to eat it and also have been eating ginger in food or by adding it in buttermilk for extra help in digestion. I ' m getting worried now can anyone clear my doubts. I live in an extremely cold weather in the US. So, can such heaty stuff really make any difference to people living in extreme cold regions with temperatures going down below zero degree? If I ask my gynac who is an American he would say eat everything. Here they do not believe in heaty stuff and all. In India maybe due to the weather conditions pregnant women are not allowed to eat some food items.

Can anyone tell me what I should do about honey, ginger, almonds, dates and few other foods. I know though eating papaya and pineapple are not good.

Regards.

hi madhu

grated ginger and honey in hot water are the best for curing a cough and cold.. but my grandmother-in-law told me not to have it in early preg.. my doc however told me it was absolutely safe to take it.. and she even told me to eat as much as papaya as i wanted to but obviously i didn' t.. what my doc wanted to say is that sometimes there a lot of myths and stigmas attached to what one should and shouldn' t eat during pregnancy.. i had enough drilled into me to avoid papaya and pineapple.. but i think ginger n honey in small quantities shouldn' t be too bad.. and as it is, u have passed your 1st trimester.. so i guess it should be safe..

Honey and ginger both r absolutely safe.. i deliberately eat ginger chew to curb nausea.
anything eaten in limit cannot harm your baby.. as for almonds, soak 3-4 almonds overnight, peel it and eat..
