Hi,
After my posting to findout B'day details of all our babies, in just 5 days that post has gone in second page, amazed to see so many postings. But when started reading get disappointed as real topics from various members got highjacked in all firefighting. Its real sad part, I only wish we should have used this forum in dissiminating useful information.
Ayway not getting into details, I just read few postings on cow milk, as I mentioned earlier too I am blind beleiver of Archie and would like her posting to paste below on subject of whether to add sugar or not. here it goes...
----------------------------------------
I would suggest not to add sugar to cow milk, see if you can give him milk without sugar and he likes it as much he does sugar mixed milk.
The reason behind is this: cow milk contains about 3.4% lactose sugar, which is a dissacharide of Glucose and Galactose (hexose carbohydrate). The sugar we use is another disaccharide consisting Fructose and Glucose and these two sugard are broken down in to 100% Glucose by two different enzymes. Besides the milk contain sufficient %age of sugar so need not to add more. Once Advait will get used to mixed milk will be taking little more sugar than usual amount. It won't be problem at all, only he will demand more metabolic activities and a bad side may be this he will develope tendacy to avoid things that are less sweet (Not necessarily but a possibility).
What's lacking in cows milk from mothers milk is VitaminD. This is also referred to as an important hormone and as long as you provide that either exposing baby to early morning Sun or by supplimenting in cows milk all will be fine.
