My daughter is in her sixth month now.
Her pediatrician suggested us to make her sit with the suppport on sofa. But my MIL(mother-in-law) is not allowing me to do so. She says that babys have to sit naturally, we are not supposed to make them sit forcefully...it might affect their spine in the long run :(...plzz let me know...if its ok to make the bay sit with the support.

Well I should say that if your kid is showing willingness to sit then you surely can encourage him by propping him against the sofa. My son showed real keenes to sit since the 4th month and we sued to prop him a lot. As a result hes started sitting by 5 months. So check out if your chjild is ready for sitting!!! kruti replied. My son is 8 mths old and i beleive in leaving it to the baby to learn to turn over, crawl, sit and stand on his own. Unless it is too much of a delay there should not be any anxiety or hussyr from our side. Let the baby take its own time and let us enjoy each phase to the fullest.Yes, its great fun to support the baby and see it sit but it will be much better to see her do this on her own...an sixth month is just the beginning to all these activites.She will be up on her own in no time.

what yr mom in law is saying is very true why u want to force yr child to sit.she will when she is ready,
even my doc had told me but i never tried as it might affect their spine unknowingly.
but yet my son started to sit at the right time.
so u need not worry abt the same.
do not force yr child.
according to me u shud let the kids take thier own time.
