Name: mom

i hv a son who is around 18 monts...but he does not speak...says dada ,,,or mimi,amamama,sumtimes..but i think he understands what i speak like if i tell himto fetch sumthing he does it..he is more into masti like running & climbing...when i tell him a abt moon he looks up..when i say there is a plane going he looks up...so he understands ...sumtimes he does not listen to me what i say to him...that time i think whether he really undertsnads wht i speak.
as im not worried for his speech as all kids r diff.my younger sister started talking at the age of 3 but when she started she was very clear & used ot say sentences.
only worried if he understands what i speak.
which i think he does.
he knows im his mama..as i keep saying that to him but he never attempts to call me mama.
when i ask him where is papa he will look towards his papa..same with me
so pls advise is it anything to worry.
thank u so much

hi !
i also have 16months baby he has just started calling mama ,but he calls everyone mama ,be it my maid his papa .anyone..
so i think it depends on baby's mood when he likes to utter anyword he will speak up,otherwise no matter how may times i repeat papa he will keep himself busy in anythink ,but to here me. your baby listens and understands meaning of what u say so u dont need to worry, very sonn he will speak little sentences, words.

hello jayashree
dont get afraid and dont loose hopes, your son is absolutely fine, and give him the proper tuition and avoid more playing periods of his, and you should teach him at home when you will get free time.... - praglabh [View Message]
