Due Date Club November 2003:Swollen lymph nodes
2003-12-16

I have so many questions to ask. Let me start with the one that is hurting most. My lymph nodes are swollen and hurt pretty bad. My nurse has asked me to massage with a warm cloth so it opens up. She says that it is accumulated with milk. Has anyone had this problem or know of any home remedy. I am afraid I'll get some infection as I haven't had time to massage.

Are you talking about engorgement? I had that too. Feeding will help, and so will a warm cloth massage. It corrects itself eventually. I did have a problem with plugged ducts a couple of times...and boy that's painful! I had to nurse with that pain..pumping helpedwith that one.
Hope that helps

Priya,

I think I confused everyone. May be it's the same thing I am talking about. I have no idea. The swelling is in the gland under the armpit. Is it the same?

doc said, babies systems are developing and like you said, they will get alright by themselves ....but it sure is hard to see them in pain....

Vindhya, since I am on a kaiser health plan my insurance pays everything but 8 bucks for the breast pump...so if non-members were to rent it, I think it would cost more...amd most probably it would be 60 dollars like you said....and yes, 60$ is a bit more..

It's wierd that your insurance doesn't pay for a breast pump rental....

Hi Avi,

Thanks for asking. My mil's visa got rejected and she cannot re-apply for another six months, so she coming here is out of question. I am somehow managing with hubby's help.

Even Niya is dealing with gas and wind problems. Someone suggested Gripe water, but haven't dared to use it. I think those problems will gradually go away. Hope you are trying to experiment with your diet.

Who knows, with good coaching and guidance, baby Nikhil may be the first Indian in the NBA.

Regarding pumps, I enquired everywhere, the monthly rental is minimum 60$. I don't think it's worth renting for that much. Is yours from Kaiser hospital, may be that's why it is 8 bucks. Do you think they can rent it to non-Kaiser people?

Hey Vindhya, I am renting my hosptial issued pump...

It's medella lactina double breasted electric one and is very convenient...
Manual pump sure must be hard to use...
but pump-in-style is surely a good one..
Check with your hospital and see if they will rent it before you go ahead and spend 200 bucks on it.... mine just charges me 8 bucks a month..

Nikhil is doing alright, thanks for asking... has a tough time dealing with all the gas he keeps passing...and gets fussy becoz of it. .

future Mike Jordon :) .. that would make his dad very happy (Jordon is his all time fav athlete)..

Hope you are doing alright with taking care of Niya Kanthi on your own... I know how tough it is to not have any help....but looks like you are dealing well with it... good job... :)
Is you MIL getting ready to visit you guys?????????

Hope you get some relief from the pain soon.... do make sure you do the warm cloth massage whenever you get some time...

Take care...

Hey Vindhya,

About your lymph nodes swelling, I am sure pumping would help. I had that problem for few days also and it really hurts. I tried taking warm shower and it helped me a lot. Also, I started pumping with Pump in style. It's a great pump, worth all that money. Hope this helps.

Hi Avi,

Thanks for your answer. I guess, the same solution works for both problems. In the hospital, they had given me a manual pump. I tried using it, but got one drop of milk :) May be, I wasn't using it properly. Which pump do you have, is it the pump-in-style. I am planning to order it online today.

How is baby Nikhil, our future Michael Jordon doing? Love to him.

Diaper Service Provider,Bangalore
Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a Diaper Service Provider in Bangalore? They generally provide cloth diapers and replace them with a new set every 2-3 days.

Thanks in advance
