Due Date Club September 2001:My Experience in Labor & Delivery

Dear All,

Hope everyone is keeping good health and having a healthy pregnancy. I've been thru the waiting phase and let me tell you the days do fly faster and soon you'll be holding your precious budle of joy. Hi niki & priya, since i was initially scheduled for induction, its no big deal. As soon as i got to the hospital, they hooked me to a IV and also another needle for administering pitocin. when the resident dr checked me at 8:00am i was already 4.5cm dialated and baby at 0 station. when my dr came in at 9:00am i was 5cm and having sporadic contractions that we're not so much painful. she decided to break my water before starting pitocin for inducing labor. that did the trick, i started having contractions that lasted for over a minute and were coming every 1-2 mins. i already asked for epidural since they were coming on really strong. but my dr asked me to hold on since i was doing good. but i lost it in another hour and i didnt want to loose the window of oppurtunity. i got the epi at 8cm and really glad i did, i was able to rest for 45 mins before i was ready to push (for that long pushing phase of about 4 hours). my dr was quite wonderful in deciding to try forcep over c-section, coz i would have like the c-section after going thru all that labor and delivery and end-up with a surgery. anyways my recomendation would be ask for epi and can hold off until you can bear the pain. if you decide to go pain-free afterwards its great, but you dont want to wait with the painful contractions for the anestheologist to show up. epi is not so painful while given in your spine, the only thing was i was having trouble sitting still thru the long 90 min contraction for more than 15 mins for this process. let me tell you my husband & mom were the 2 people i would cherish for their wonderful support thru the entire labor & delivery. unfortunatly they were asked to leave when i was give epi.

i wish you girls have a really short and virtually pain-free labor and a very short delivery with only a couple of pushes unlike me. i would be anxiously waiting to hear your big news and the birth stories. lots of love to your little ones and good luck to you all.

Take care & good luck.

Hi Vidhya,
Thanks for ur message & i heartily appreciate that even in ur most busiest times u posted it.
This has been very informative to me at this time. Somehow i am very scared & nervous especially after my
friend's incident i mentioned earlier. I talked about it to my Dr too that i was very nervous.....Infact i also told her that \";while my baby & myself r in good health try to make up for the delivery\"; as i cant wait untill the condition that if there is any prob then they wud induce. No 2 births r alike but still i am so scared. I think i am prepared to go for all this but i want my healthy babe with me. tentatively theyve decided my date on 29th August, lets see......hey Priya, so u know uve got a boy?

Stem cell banking on with life cell
yes Life cell is the best, when ourbabygirl was due in Feb 2011 we shortlisted Lifecell after meeting Cyrobanks, Relicord, Babycord etc. Cyrobanks are thugs they promise you the moon and also there is no indian hand in this company so we can' t rely on them at all. Relicord is good but the offers have so much marketing gimmicks. Other players lacks either the technical inf... - CK [View Message]

Good Gynae in Dwarka
Hi

I am new to dwarka and want to know if there is any good doctor having her clinic here (I expect them to be visiting some good hospotal).

I know some good doctors in gurgaon like Dr Chetna Jain (Columbia Asia), Dr Manvita (Max).

but can anybody suggest someone in dwarka as gurgaon would be far for emergency situations.
