dear vindhya,
your tips on breastfeeding and diet were very helpful.
however, i was told by my mother to observe the following:
have boiled water only always, slightly warm.
do not have raw foods as it may cause baby an upset stomach. this has ruled out fruits and salads for now.
i can have dry fruits though .
citrus fruits are to be avoided as they may cause a cold to mom and baby.

what do you suggest? can i start having every thing ? manisha

Hi Manisha,

Hope you and your baby are doing well.

Regarding good nursing diet, I feel there's no perfect one. Even I am torn between the advices given my family and the ones given by my doctor. I always thought fruits were good. Have you tried having them and was your baby not okay with it? In that case, I would refrain from eating them. In your case, if you are not comfortable eating something that your mom doesn't advice you to, then I would definitely not go for it. So, it's upto to you.

In my opinion, as long as you can get the prescribed calories(2500) with the needed calcium, protein, iron and all the vitamins/minerals, it doesn't matter what food you substitute/eat.

Regarding water, I agree with you that we should always use boiled water. The water should be brought to boiling point and is to be boiled for one minute.

The information I had given previously can also be found at verybestbaby(.)com.

You haven't told us your cutie's name yet. My hugs to her.

Do let us know what diet is working best for you, may be the same would work for us too.

Take care,
Vindhya

Diaper Service Provider,Bangalore
Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a Diaper Service Provider in Bangalore? They generally provide cloth diapers and replace them with a new set every 2-3 days.

Thanks in advance
