Waiting to try:Chemical pregnancy or early miscarriage

Archie,
I got my periods 2 days late i.e on the 24th. On the 22nd I took a HPT and it was clearly positive. I was elated... but then I had severe backache yesterday and my periods started. My periods are very heavy and painful. Also this time I had some symptoms like sore breasts and thought this was it. I am wondering if I had an early miscarriage or chemical pregnancy. This happened once before to me 6 months back at 6 weeks.
Is there any reason for recurring early miscarriages or chemical pregnancies.
Please help me with my questions as I am confused. We have been TTC for 6 months now.

Hi Simba
Now see, ur hcg level will take sometime to come bak to normal. so its necessary to do a bloodtest to assure the same b4 u try to conceive again. And i 've heard from my friend that she had to go for pregnile injections thr' out the first trimster who had similar problem. so u can check with ur doctor on such hormone injections when u consult her the next time. Don't worry, everything is gonna turn just fine the next time. All the best and prayers!

Folks,
Has anyone else also been through an early miscarriage at 5-6 weeks (also termed as chemical pregnancy). Since this has happened to me twice in 6 months I'm worried now. I am going to my doctor on the 1st. Hopefully she puts me on progesterone medication.....
Trying to keep my faith... but it's hard. Especially when you knew you were pregnant and lost it again.

Archie,
Is Progesterone supplement an over the counter medication. I live in the US. I mean I went to my doctor last time this happened and she said this is normal as it was the first time. She had done tests earlier and she felt I was normal. Then now it happened again.... I have an appointment with my doctor on the 1st of November. I am afraid she is going to make me wait for the 3rd time....which I hope I don't go through. Should I ask her about the progesterone supplement.
this time I took the HPT as soon as I missed my period and it was positive quickly. Then in 2 days I started bleeding and getting cramps.
My periods will end this Thursday and I have scheduled a visit with my doctor on the 1st.

Thanks,
Simba

there is nothing we can say today unless the pregnancy fails for third in a row.

here is suggestion, why not to get progesterone suppliment in luteal phase when you feel early pregnancy symptoms. To avoid extra expenses it would be worth taking blood hcg counts two days before expected due date and if test is positive on blood then start immediately progesterone. I am not sure if your embryo fails to progress due to insufficient progesterone or other aspect.
another suggestion would be complete bed rest in luteal phase the moment you felt pregnancy symptoms.

I know pregnancy symptoms are many time misleading and fooling but this is what I could offer you.

do you take test on the day you get period to assure you really had a pregnancy because hcg would disappear not around period onset but a few days later.

The doctor told me chemical pregnancies are early miscarriages. i.e fertilization takes place but the pregnancy does not develop after implantation causing the HCG levels to decrease and eventually you get your periods . In my case the first time we TTC, I got pregnant but had an early miscarraige in 6 weeks also known as chemical pregnancy. It happened again this month. This time it happened in 5 weeks. My periods were late by a few days.

Hope this answers your questions
