Hi there..
i posted couple of querries here. As i always follow this discussion board, i guess you had the same problem as mine. My 2 yr old son makes inconsistant eye contact and very active, doen' t listen to adult' s directions. He' ll do evrything the way he wants to do.. He was evaluated under early intervention program few days back. he needs therapies in couple of areas. Now do you think all these will work.. as you have experienced the same...Please share your experience.. One final question do the early intervention team tell if the child has autism ??

Please do reply to this..
thanks a lot

hey Shalini.i can understand your worries.iam also in the same boat.early intervention program really helped my son.he does say lots of simple words now.my son is 3 now.soon he will be preschool where he will receive speech therapy.
in early intervention preogram they dont have speech therapy.it is kind of stimulation class.but i dont know how it will be in your school district.each school district have different program.my son doesent have any problem with eye contact.and he is not autistic.so i dont know much about that.but when you go for this early intervention program classes, they will have close contact with your son and they are therapist they will surely find out what is area of trouble and they will concentrat on that.if they find any signs of autism, then he will have seperate evaluation to find that out.
he is only 2 and a very active kid.i think there is nothing wrong with him.my son when he was 2 he even dint call me amma.but now he says \" mama i love you\" .
i can give you a simple tip.go with him in his way.for eg.my son was so much intrested in knife, household cleaners, remote, phone.so wheneven iam using them he will come to me and point it out.and i will just repeat them.
if you are in US.there is a tv channel called \" baby first TV.it is really help ful
he will surely talk.never show your frustration before him.always be happy and keep smiling and talking to him in simple language.
dont miss out any single class in the program.try to make him get along with other kids.it is a really helpful program.they will also have preschool in the same school.when he is 3 join him there.i will say he will be much more brighter than other kids when th time come for his kindergarden.take care

hi there, thanks a lot. It feels better when you see people who cares for you. He is more interested in books, songs and any other activities that he can visualise. He responds to those a lot. He doesn´ t pay attention if it is not interesting to him. For ex.if I say ´ go and get shoes...or get a book´ he immediately gives positive responds. But if i only say ´ hi´ or hello he won´ t even look at me.He loves to play with other kids only if they are playing something he likes. His vocabulary is increasing everyday... but again when sees those object speaks out. If he sees a picture of banana or an apple or the object itself he says those words. I´ m trying my best. early intervention program will take few more weeks to start their classes. But we have already statred our best...sometimes he really does good, but when he doesn´ t rsponds i feel bad and feel like helpless. He started making good eye contact to those poeple who are plying with him.Even me, if i do something what he doesn´ t like, he won´ t make eye contact with me. So it seems there is a behavioral problem with him.
Hope for the best. Long way to go...

Thanks a lot.
Keep posting.

Speech/language delay - 2.3 yr old boy
Hello Everyone

Our 28 months old boy is not speaking simple 2 or 3 word sentences yet. He speaks a few words such as mama, papa, aunty etc but definitely not more than 10. Also, he doesn't understand slightly longer sentences, even when we speak slowly and enact it such as "we'll go out after we eat". Otherwise, he appears perfectly normal. Hints for Nursing
Babies eat and eat and eat. Although nature has done a pretty good job of providing you and your baby with the right equipment, in the beginning it's almost guaranteed to be harder than you expected. From sore nipples to tough latch-ons, nursing can seem overwhelming.
