Hi Shalini
You didn' t mention about her speech... where do you stay ...?
What made the docter to think of Autism ...is it poor eye contact and what else??

Does she enjoyed listening to songs or when you sing her rhyme??
when you say twinkle twinkle does she make some hand movement with you?
Does she respond to her name..?

Sometimes children take time to speak
Please don' t worry..
Let her be evaluated...And soon u will find the answer..
Hope For the Best..

hi Ashwini,
thanks for your reply. The doctor was concerned abt his speech delay, poor contact and lack of pointing to things. Now if we talk abt speech, he certainly has some delay, he sys 20-25 words when we make him to say or if he sees those objects. He makes inconsistant eye contact, if poeple say something which he likes, he makes eye contacts, even with strangers. And about pointing to objects, he pulls us to the objects he wants,he never shows with his fingers. He uses more his thumb than his pointer to press any button of a toy and pointing any pictures in a book.
He understands simple commands and few words we use in our daily life. He goes to day care 5 days a week.He acts normal with other kids, he never hits and grabs from others. He plays with other kids, but prefer to play himself, he doesn´ t show any affection to his friends( hugging or smiling to htem ).He loves to play with my daughter(she is 5) and her friends. He tries to copy everything whatever they do.
the early intervention team recommends us to go to the neurological development to find out why he has this delay where his gross and fine motor skills are excellent.but either way they´ ll start the therapy.
I´ m feeling helpless...
please share some experince and information.
thanks a lot
Btw we are in New Jersey,USA

Speech/language delay - 2.3 yr old boy
Hello Everyone

Our 28 months old boy is not speaking simple 2 or 3 word sentences yet. He speaks a few words such as mama, papa, aunty etc but definitely not more than 10. Also, he doesn't understand slightly longer sentences, even when we speak slowly and enact it such as "we'll go out after we eat". Otherwise, he appears perfectly normal. Hi All,

My son is less than 4 and has been diagnosed to be on the autism spectrum. He is non-verbal. We are taking him for OT and ABA/speech therapy.

Meanwhile, I read about an Ayurvedic hospital called Kerala Samajam hospital in Shoranur. Has anyone gone there for treatment? Any reviews?

Hints for Nursing
Babies eat and eat and eat. Although nature has done a pretty good job of providing you and your baby with the right equipment, in the beginning it's almost guaranteed to be harder than you expected. From sore nipples to tough latch-ons, nursing can seem overwhelming.
