Joint Family:Help!!! I need an image makeover

Hi all!! I got a job after a lot of effort and I have to join immediately. I am 26 year old. Right now I am a housewife married for 2.5 years with a 1.3 year old baby. I have the same hair style i.e. a plait till my lower back (really really boring and I am sick of it) from 22 years. And I have the same dressing style from ever since I stopped wearing uniform in school i.e salwars. But I am really scared to try a different style now. I even have a nose ring. My in-laws are very orthodox. But I really need a change. Can somebody please tell me how to go about it... Or can u please suggest a good parlour in Bangalore. My parents stay in mumbai. So if u suggest me any place in mumbai I think I can go there when I go to visit my parents. But please help me!!!

dear nnn
you can get your hair trimmed so that it looks neat. you donot have to go for short hair, you can just put a hair clip instead of tying a plait. do things slowly else you will feel akward with sudden extreme make over. get your eyebrows in shape and get waxing done. you can but salwar - chudidaar of latest trends from the market and buy matching sandals / bags. do not go overboard. office style should be minimum and understated. later on if u feel comfortable you can start wearing saree/ skirt / trousers to office. all the best !

Since you are starting a new job, maybe a drastic change will not make sense, as you will need to appear comfortable in your new look. So, try something subtle first, and then you can slowly change more over time. First, get a nice simple haitcut. Don' t make it too short so that you don' t face any objection from your ILs. Just cut it a little longer than shoulder length, so that you can leave it down when you go to work, and tie it up when you are working in the house or just generally when it' s warm. Then, about your clothes, try wearing a different kind of Indian dress first... like maybe a nice churidar with a straight, embroidered kurta... accessorise.... nice, formal earrings, handbag....shoes, etc. You will have to make changes depending on your body type, etc. So, these can be just general changes. All the best.

Should a single man live with his mum in India?
I am a man in my late 40s and I have lived abroad in USA for the past two decades. I never had any interest in marrying or having kids so I never married. Recently my Dad passed away and my mother will be alone. I have made enough money to retire comfortably but because I am used to the American lifestyle I can't live in India. Recently my relatives have started saying tha... - Venkat Dabri [View Message]
