Sleeping:Help!! My baby is a very fussy sleeper

Hi,

My baby is one and half months old and is a very fussy sleeper. In fact, he sleeps for only about 10-12 hrs in a day and that too for about 1 hr at a time. If he falls asleep while havinhis feed then he sleeps for abt 2-3 hrs at a stretch. But if he does not then he keeps on crying till his next feed. He does feel sleepy but no amount of cuddling, swaddling, rocking, singing etc can put him to sleep. I am going to be rejoining office soon and will leave him with a maid and am scared if he gives so much trouble. pls pls help and tell me what to do.

Hey, my son is about 2mts old and I too had the same problem. It gets better after completion of 2mts and now his sleep had increased .He is sleeping better at nights. We have made a swing from a saree and try to put him to sleep in that, since the saree holds the baby tightly it closely resembles a womb and my son sleeps better in that. Try it. At night he sleeps only on my hands with me cuddling him, though its tough on the mom, baby seems to sleep better. A warm bath helps as well.
Let me know if the above works.
Priya

Hi, we have a 2 months old and he used to be very fussy all night and now he wakes up every 2-3 hours to feed but go straight to sleep after that. My husband gives him a bath around 8:30pm and I feed him, he sleeps until around midnight. after that every 2 hours or so..
Things got better after the second month.
Take care,
Janine.

Thanks Priya,
Since our babies are of approximately the same age maybe we can share notes.
I will definitely try what u said.
Is there an average sleep pattern that children of a particular age have so is it as per individual nature? For how many hours in a day should a 2 month old baby sleep?
Do u hv any idea abt these? If yes, then pls let me know.

Sleep Problem due to itchy skin
My baby girl is unable to sleep properly due to skin rashes. I have resumed oil massages to help calm her down and facilitate better sleep, using CITTA Baby Massage Oil. Additionally, I am applying the ointment recommended by her doctor for the rashes. Could you please provide me with more ideas that can promote better sleep for her?... - Sanchari Tarafdar [View Message]

RE:How to Develop a Sleep Routine for your Newborn
According to me this is good but then you cannot force your child to sleep as per your wish as kids as really bad in this and they have a tendency to sleep in day and get up in late night so according to me this is not the key to success, please post if i am wrong.... - Anita [View Message]
