Hi girls,
I am in my 3th month and hv been visiting ob/gyn every month. I hv a very embarassing problem. I hv lots of hair on my body. The most embarassing thing is the hair on my stomach which look coarse inspite of doing bleaching. I wanted to know if anyone has a problem similar to me. I am not worried abt the hair on other parts but the hair on my stomach troubles me a lot as I hv to visit the dr. every month and it is embarassing when they see the stomach every month to hear the heartbeat. Do any of u hv unwanted hair on the stomach and if yes, do u remove it or just leave it?
Also please tell me when we go to our ob/gyn, do we need to shave down there cause I feel that if I dont shave the dr. might feel yucky cause my ob/gyn is american and here in US its a trend to shave down there.
Please help and advise. Need it desperately.
Thx & bye.

I don't have lot of hair on tummy but I do have very little. What I am doing is, I am waxing it. You can buy Nair waxing kits in walmart or any other store. I prefer waxing b'coz the hair doesn't grow back for next 2 months. I am NOT waxing the whole tummy. I am only waxing where it is thicker.
Regarding the Pubic area, I do trim it with scissors. But since it is getting difficult to see underneath, I am using Nair Hair removing lotion. U can use it once in a month. But the smell is really bad. So, I took a towel/cloth and tied around my nose and mouth (of course with some breathing area).
Leaving some hair in pubic area, is OK I guess and nobody expects it to be perfectly cleaned.
And one final suggestion is whatever procedure u r following, Do take extra care since those are very sensitive areas.
With shaving/ trimming, u should be very very cautious.
With hair removing lotion, make sure the area is well ventilated or open ur bathroom doors.
With waxing, Make sure the wax is not too hot.
Anyway, finally Doctors are not concerned about these issues. They are more interested in other health issues. But it is hygenic and feels good to be clean.
Hope this helps and Enjoy Your Pregnancy!!
Ranjini replied. I think you should not use bleach on your tummy. What ever you use on your skin will be absorbed by it. So I think you should go slow on that. Check with your doc too.
Radhika replied. Hi anita,
Everyone goes thru these ques...don't feel so embarrassed, hair on stomach grows during pregnancy, its normal. I am sure the doctor seen every pregnant lady go thru it. Do not shave(since hair grows thicker and more later) this will go eventually., i don't know if bleach is safe on tummy, ask the nurse in the clinic. I had asked all the necc info to the nurses and doc on my first visit, bleach is fine on face after the 3rd month but she said should be well ventilated area, and don't keep for to long and don't use strong bleaches..didn't ask about stomach area, i really don't think u should worry about it.
As for pubic area, u can trim it, keep aside small scissors if u need, its hygenic anyway even if not pregnant, but not necessary, have all my friends going thru delivery without any waxing or shaving,( its difficult to see lower part in later stages..:))).DOctors are more bothered about ur health, don't think they have time to think or remember how u look. If u are worried, u can ask the nurse or doctor directly, after all we are open to all other details..just relax..i don't think anyone cares, besides urself. Yes if u feel uncomfortable and feel confident and want to feel good about urself, whatever u use consult the doctor/nurse..different people will have different advices and depends on products u use, i have found everyone in the clinic very helpful and quite frank and open..stomach and pubic area sensitive areas...so best person would be the nurse/doctor..and then ur own decision..relax,smile and enjoy the pregnancy..
