Dear Members,

My daughter has been diagnosed with anteriorly displaced anus i.e. her anus is slightly above from the normal position. Her anal functions are normal and she has regular bowel movements. She is now 4 months old and is breast fed. I am told that the close proximity of the anus to the vagina will cause vaginal infections and UTI' s as she grows older. Also she would suffer from constipation. We are asked to get an anal shift surgery done on her i.e. shift the anus to the regular position.

I am really confused on how to proceed further. If I leave her as it is since her functions are normal now will it cause problems from her in future. Or if I go ahead with the surgery what is the guarantee that there won' t be other complications.

If any of you have had a similar experience, please share on what decision you took and what is the experience.

Seema replied. Hi dont go for any sort of treatment now once the girl grows a bit try asking a good doctor about the best cure for these kind of issue i am sure it can be treated in the best ways. Ritu replied. It is very difficult to see anything happening to your baby and surgery is a very heartbreaking thing even if it is a very small surgery. But you should take the advice of the doctor but also take some second opinions about it. NN replied. Ask the doctor about all the complications that might happen after the surgery. The baby is too small for a surgery but if it will cause problems in the future then you should get it done as soon as possible. Anu replied. Hello Simran,

Am really sorry it is very painful to read also.How could you manage with all these you need to be bold and strong to face all things i wish your kid will be get cured from the problem and will be healthy also. kareena replied. i think you should go for surgery but before that consult some specialist for it as it may cause problems but it will be lesser than she will suffer in future. so go for surgery and try to find a good doctor to operate her whoo have lot of experience. Was just curious to know, what did you do. Did you got the corrective surgery done?
