Due Date Club December 2004:Tummy Itch
2004-11-30
Name: Shalini

Hello! Everybody,
Thanks for all your support this past week, I would see the doctor later today and they will check if baby's position has changed in this past week, if not I might go for the c-section on friday the 3rd. (Excited and nervous at the same time). Will keep you posted.
My latest trouble is itching on tummy and breasts, I see small rashes and together with stretch marks they have become very sensitive, when I am home, I wash it every half hour and rub talcum powder on it but sitting through at work is tough and even sleeping is becoming more and more difficult. I sleep less than 5-6 hrs each night, I would like to be a little more rested during the week if the baby is coming this weekend, please let me know if there is a remedy for this situation.
Thanks in advance
Shalini

Shalini,

The itching on breasts and tummy is nothing but stretching of skin..are you scratching the stretch marks? This also could lead to rashes. Also do not use soap while washing these areas, esp. because you are washing them every half an hr. Applyign talcum powder might provide temporary releif, but will only make the skin more dry, which in turn will worsen the problem. Apply nay anti-stretch mark cream or moisturiser over the area, which will help to keep the skin soft and supple.

Also at night you could try applying cocoa butter, olive oil or just plain coconut oil over the areas - these will surely help.

I am surprised that you are still working when your due date is so near. Please relax...make the most of this time..it'll really help. Also you'll find more time to catch up to sleep during the day.

Hope this helps.

Take care,
Hamsa
