Nurseries and Schools:age restriction for LKG (chennai)

my daughter is 3years 9 months old. She is
studying in LKG. The shool management is now
saying that she is underage, and she has to
study LKG for next year also.

I am now in a very confusion stage, whether to
continue the same school for LKG or to change the
school to make study in UKG.

I request someone to help, also if possible the
government eligibility age for studying in LKG or
I standard. Thanks in advance.

Schools are stricter nowadays about the age criterion. 3 years and 9months is what is required for LKG in Blore schools too and they say child should have completed 5 to enter Ist standard. My son would be 3 and 6 in June and already knows to read and write a bit. SO I thought putting him in LKG would make sense but even the elite preschools would not take him for LKG. In your case it is a pity that they are asking your child to repeat a class. Why didn' t they inform you when you got her admitted or even earlier? I think you can findout from other schools whether she can go to UKG before pulling her out from this one. All the Best

Hello Indu,
I have the same problem for my daughter. My daughter would be 3.7 months in June´ 08 but none of the bangalore schools take admission for LKG. I´ m not sure what she will do for one more year? She is yet to complete play school at Euro Kids? Please so some pointer on this? What did you kid do last year? Is he/she studing LKG now are nursery?
