Name: new mom



My new born baby is just 3 months old and on of his eye is watering continuously and has some mucus kind of dirt accumulated in the sides. The other eye is fine. We used ciplox eye drops but no use.

it could be an infection. Better to see his physician if the mucous secretion is very high and frequent.

Dont worry this is not a serious problem untill 12 months. My baby has the same problem. This is due to blockage of tear duct.

Read:

Usually nothing, as it normally goes away without treatment. If gluey material develops then wipe it away with some moistened cotton wool. Ideally, moisten the cotton wool with sterile water (cool water that has previously been boiled). It may help if you massage the tear duct four or five times a day. To do this use gentle pressure on the outside of the nose. This may help to clear pooled tears in the upper part of the blocked duct. It may also help the tear duct to develop.

If you are breatfeeding your baby, pour some of your milk into his eyes. That helps to some extent and also that acts as a cleaner.
