Hello,

We live in Chicago and my 2 year son has elevated Blood content in his blood. Usually it should be around 10 but my son has around 15. Do kids in India go through this test? if so, what is diet does pediatrician recommends. Please share your experiences.

Dear Mr. Kumar,

I am working @ National Referral Centre for lead poisoning in India, St. John´ s Medical College,Bangalore. Its very sad to hear that ur son is suffering from lead poisning. However we recommend generally to give food and rich in calcium & iron as the metal lead mimic with this and eliminate calcium & iron from our body. This lead accumulate in bones & different parts of organ & cause..learning disability, behaviour changes, Reproductory damages & many mores. if your child is non- vegeterain lease give him well cooked meat , fish etc. encourage him to eat green leafy vegetables.15 Mg/dl is high value for 2 year child but using a proper diet it will come down . Just after 6 month or 1 year retest the blood level again & see the differences. Kindly consult your near by doctors specialist in Lead whether they suggest any chelation therapy for such a young boy. You can give iron & calcium tablet also to your son.For
