hi,
my baby is 1month 15 days old. i had a c-section , so in the initial 2 days i couldnt feed him, later though i faced a difficult , i got him used to latching. but the problem is he drinks for about 2 hours but still he feels hungry.moreover i find it difficult to hold him for 2 hours to feed him. my mother says it is due to insufficient supply of my milk. i am depressed that i am unable to feed him properly. is anyone facing this kind of a problem. please help me , so that i can feed my baby with more of my milk.

Hi Sirisha,
think positive. I totally agree with nandini and no need to add anything else. Even I had difficulty for the first few days. My son decreased less than 10% in first 2days and slowly picked up after that. Only thing I can tell is to eat Garlic which helps for the milk production and also it seems the babys love the garlic smell it seems. You can go through july2004 messageboard for archie and others messages
try to be calm.
post the good news .

hi sirisha
its fine if initial 2 days u didnt feed him but u still caught on wth it.
a baby does nt require to fed be fr more than 20 mins.some babies just feed fr 5 mins nd they re off to sleep.nd then u ve to wake them again nd feed them or in half an hrs time they are crying fr feed.mine i tried hard scheduling but its still not wrking smetimes he is feeding every 3 hrs smetimes earlier .

ideally 20 mins on one breast nd try to gap fr 2and half hr to 3 hr.as initially thefeed is watery nd then fat comes so once one breast is complete fr the next feed u can give the other one.
2hrs is tiring fr u some babies do like to suck fr long but mre than20 mins is not reqd.it is the main security fr them
how do u kn he is crying fr milk.
in the first to three months they also suffer frm colic esp evening 6.00 onwards till nite so they cry fr that.
if they are wet they cry if they pass gas (mine does loudly)he cries if they are hot they cry if they are cold they cry.
fr everything they like to put their mouth to the breast as it comforts them
try to stop after 20 mins pull him away then what hapens?
wait fr sme time see
what happens.
never feel depressed or tensed while feeding relax as then only feed cmes fast or if u r uptight then feed is not fast baby gets agitated nd cries.
have confidence on ur urself pray the lord.u will be able to.many atime they feed within 2 hrs if u re free nd not tired what is the problem?feed him again try not to fr 15mins by distracting him but if still he is crying then feed him but dnt feel depressed nd doubt urself.
more u feed more milk will come.
inspite of all this if u feel the baby is hungry there is no harm in giving a bottle to him fr that u will ve to ask ur dr what time to give how much i really dnt kn the details.
sirisha be happy dont worry thngs will work out.there are bigger hurdles ahead
hope this helps.
bi nandini

Very good doctor
Hi,

I delived a baby boy in March 2009. I consulted Dr.Chitra Ramamurthy during my pregnancy cycle. She' s one of the best doctors in Bangalore. Not many people know about her. She handled the entire process in a very professional manner. I used to visit her clinic in Jayanagar 3rd block. She is very caring and affable. She says what to do and what not to do. ... - Sandhya Rao [View Message]

hi
So long as your baby is feeding, that' s all that really matters. These days, formulas are packed with everything the baby needs, and although it is never as good as breast milk, it' s perfectly fine. It sounds like maybe what you are missing is the bonding that breast feeding provides? My first child had both breast and bottle milk for the first 6 months, when I had a mis... - Jhumri [View Message]
