Health Issues:Need Your help I am worried abut my friend

Hello everyone,
Yesterday I received call from my friend who has been blessed with a beautiful daughter a week ago. What she said disturbed me and still bothering me. Her mother-in-law asked her to press nipples of the new baby to bring out some fluid/milk.
She wanted to know if I did something similar to my daughter(I am mother of an year old daughter). I straight away told her that I didn' t do anything like that and not to do anything without consulting her doctor. I have read about milk coming out of some infant' s nipples by itself because of hormones of mother in baby' s body. But forcing or pressing out milk out of baby' s nipples seems to be a superstition.
Please tell me anything you know about it, I am sure her mother-in-law should still be forcing her to do that.

Inorder the keep the chest of a boy in shape, it is done. Else it will grow like a girl not upto that extent (Like girl)but to some extent.

Hi pooja,

I have a yr old daughter and I didn' t do anything like this to her. However,when she was 2 months old i took her to my in laws place where my sis in law told me about her experience as a mother which also included the ritual u have mentioned. Her son who was few days old then got a tumor (gaath) kind of thing in his nipples which couldn' t get treated with antibiotics and finally got operated when he was 6 months old. she was almost in tears while telling me the entire episode.
and to me it personally sounds very inhuman and painful.

How can someone still believe in such stupid things.

I don' t know if i am late in replying but suggest your friend against it if she is still thinking of it.

don' t know about superstitious but my midwife she do the same thing to my baby boy. Now he' s 15M, he' s fine.
