Hi archie & everyone,

I am 40 weeks pregnant & I had my appt yest & internal exam. Doc said baby is doing fine & in head down , but its high & the cervix is not yet open. She has told me wait until next wed (my due is on 24th) , If i didn't get any pain till then , she'll do U/S & NST on wed & accor to that will induce me thur or fri. I am Very much upset. What are chances for normal delivery if induced in my case. Still now i'm not getting any contractions. Is there any i can do to get contractions & for the cervix to open.

Iwould like to share my friend shazias exerience wth u.Her EDD was 11th dec and by scan 12th dec.
BUt she didnt get any pain.her dr. asked her to wait till 21st dec and then on 22nd she was induced and she delivered a healthy boy by normal delivery.
she nd the baby are doing fine.
have faith.
god will tke cre.
even if it turns out to be c section.relax.
i had 2 after 1 normal.
i am doing great.

Thanks for ur encouraging words. I am worried abt C-section. I just want my baby to be safe in time. Anyway lets hope for the best..

We are all sailing in the same boat , my wife also has completed 40 week and her EDD was 21st dec. But she is not having any contractions yet. However last night she was feeling a lot of pressure downwards. Her cervix too was small and the doc applied some gel (read my previos posts for details) , and said that the gel would loosen the cervis and my wife would dilate and have pains in 12 hours. Its been 36 hours since those 12 hours went by. Our baby is still moving nicely and heart beat is normal.Today both mothers are giving my wife a nice oil bath and in the morning gave her castor oil with tea ,they are not doing this to induce the contractions . But they say it would help in delivery. Anyways the doc is almost sure that the pains would start by 24th or 25th. Lets see and wait. I know what tension its for you mothers , but please do understand that its Gods will that your baby is comming late and its perfectly normal. Do trust in your doc and get it out of your mind that C-section is harmful. The purpose of you being pregnant is to givel life without being in danger, and if the doctor feels a c-section is needed to keep you and the baby safe , say yes and be happy for the baby who is to come into your life.

induction does not mean a C-section. It will depend how your progress is and how baby is coping up with labor stress. Be positive.

Even i am having similar problem. I completed 39 weeks and I had my pelvic test yeterday. Last week my doctor said my cervix has already dilated 1cm and I might get into labor before my due whic is 27th dec. This week he feels cervix is still the same 1 cm and he wants to induce labor on 28th if i don't get any contractions by then. I was also little upset, as i don't see any reason for inducing. Does inducing increwses the chances for c-section? Archie, please help.
