Dear Sir,
I have a girl child of 2 yrs and 7 months. As per she is very active and sharp. She grasps every possible thing we narrate to her.She is very short tempered. She used to pull my hairs and scratch me whenever she is angry. I have started her playschool from July...There she is very happy and wants to go to school everyday.
But now also she is very angry when
1. she wants some toy and some other child is playing with it
2. many a times she generally pulls others dress with strong force
3. she hits back when some one hits her but many a times she hits children generally without any reason
4. she is very possisive about her toys and belongings
5. she becomes very angry when she is not able to do things in a correct way i mean wear shoes...or play with blocks or anything
6.she is tempted to scratch other child' s face...

i get a lot of complaints from her school...dont know how to handle her so that she becomes social..

Please help me to understand her..
Thanks

Hi Alka,
Two year olds throw a lot of temper tantrums and are said to go through terrific two phase aptly.
In order to help a child overcome her tantrums, here are some tips:
1. If she is having a hard time sharing a toy, distract her with another toy. Option 2: Tell her that she cannot play with that particular toy if she doesn' t share and stick to your word even if her tantrums blow your mind off and remove her from the scene.
If she listens to you, reward her with a sticker etc., no candies though.
2. Take her privileges away....for eg. no TV time for hitting someone.
3. Remember to use a firm tone but under control...it is difficult but works. Children sometimes like to get attention even if it means negative ones. So avoid reacting negatively.
4. Deviate child' s attention to another activity before the child has a meltdown.
If things don' t change for the better, don' t shy away from getting help from a behaviourist if there is access to such services.

Good Luck!!

I would suggest your child participate in games where she could channelize her energy constructively.
At this age it could be skating.
