Due Date Club November 2003:Food after delivery

Hey guys,
Have any of you been advised about the kind of diet we should have after delivery and during breastfeeding? I know that here they say that we can have pretty much anything. Of course Mom suggested that we avoided at least the gas causing items like cabbage, cauliflower etc.
Just curious! Perhaps our friends who've already delivered can advise?
Priya

Subject:  Have to see ur taste buds too

Hi girls. I for one have been off quite a lot of food during my pregnancy, so unless my taste buds return to normal, I will have to see what I can eat without much effort.

I agree staying away from gas causing food, but wonder if everyone's body reacts differently to same kind of food. So try what you fancy and if the discomfort is there, don't try again...sounds impractical but losing out on a healthy diet with fear of something might happen won't be wise neither.

Do think though, heavy lentils, cauliflower and rice do cause discomfort for most women pre and post delivery so would refrain from them, if possible.

But surely not the one to believe that we ought to eat heavy ghee based panjiri etc as they only seem fat and nothing else! Any thoughts on that??

Take care.
Simmi

you mom is right Priya..but I am not sure whether or not cabbage and cauliflower are gas causing vegies....

although doctors do tell us to have anything we want.. we should surely stay away from foods that create gas inside us cause the baby will suffer from it too when we breastfeed...
Chinese people have lots and lots of chicken soup after delivery and I heard that it is good for the mother and the child...If you are a vegetarian you can have anything soupy/light and stay away from all sorts of lentils for a little while...

Wheat is also supposedly pretty good to have...and ofcourse more nutritious than rice..

My mom says that garlic is very good for the body too after delivery...

Diaper Service Provider,Bangalore
Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a Diaper Service Provider in Bangalore? They generally provide cloth diapers and replace them with a new set every 2-3 days.

Thanks in advance
