I have read your blog with great interest and must congratulate you on your obvious passion and excellence in this field.

As an educationist who has spent the last 5 years researching India' s pre-primary education sector including curriculum development,teaching methodologies, quality controls, effective management strategies, trans-disciplinary integration and more . . . it would be an honour to share some of our findings with a fellow professional.

Based on our findings we are in the process of developing for print, a range of pre-primary workbooks and teaching tools specifically designed for the Indian context - acknowledging India' s cultural diversity and pedagogy.

Subject:  admitting kid early to LKG



Tarun
My daughter is 4+ yrs and born on 3rd Oct in delhi. So as per delhi school rules, a kid can be admitted to a class only if born till 30 sept. Thus, due to 3 days, my kid needs to be admitted to younger class.

Now, there is a v good new school which is allowing me to admit the kid to upper class and ignoring the 3 days.

thus, my kid wd be one of the youngest in class.

everybody is aking me not to do so, and that it will put lot of pressure on kid's mind.

what r ur thoughts abt this.

Other moms who hv experience - pls share ur thoughts also.

Hello ma'me,

sorry for the late response on this message. I would recommend you not to admit your kid to that class.

Actually, it's very easy for us parents to think that we need to make our kids super smart and intelligent as the world is getting very competitive at a very young age. Additionally, we think a year wasted is going to be monumental loss in his/her future -- and I beg to differ with this argument.

Firstly, I believe that a year over here and there does not make a difference in anyone's life. Secondly even if you discount this philosophical reason, you may be unknowingly making your kid insecure in this enviornment where everyone is older to them.
