Hi,
I am in my 28th wk of pregnancy and experiencing a problem which everybody may be agreeing to.

At night in the middle of the sleep I am experiencing extreme pain in my legs . I try to change the side from left to right and right to left, but still no reprieve. the pain goes for few mins and resurfaces. Then when I get up in the morning I find it very difficult to get up due to cramps feeling.

I am really scared as such whether there is any problem in my body or anything since doc' s reports and everything state me as normal.

Kindly help.....

Uttara

As soon as you sense that cramps are going to start, bend your toe towards the ground (assuming you are lying down). This will arrest it immediately and the amount of cramps you feel the next morning is very much reduced.
This is my second pregnancy and this method has given me a lot of relief during the present and previous pregnancies.

Hi Uttara,

I am in 26th week and I feel the same way at night. Cramps and pain in the legs and thighs. I apply a heating pad now a days and it has given me some relief. Try to sleep on your sides and not on the back, preferably on your left side. Also, take plenty of fluids during the day to prevent cramps. You can also try some mild stretching exercises if you can.

My tests are all normal too. During my first pregnancy too I had experienced the same thing on and off till the birth of my son. Its a part of the second and third trimester which we have to deal with. It happens due to weight gain and pressure on the uterus.

We' ll all get through this together.

There is a Chinese proverb ' This too shall pass.' Just keep it in mind and try to keep your spirits up for the new one coming into your life.

Take care,

AG

The reason why ur baby' s leg is shivering may be this. Plz contact ur doc and take necessary steps as soon as possible.... - Sahila Gupta [View Message]

Not to worry
If you want a normal delivery, ask your doc first to try vaginal delivery if not then go for forceps delivery where baby can taken out with the help of tongs...
