Due Date Club October 2003:30% effaced - doctor's appt details

Hi All,
From Saturday I thought I was beginning to lose my mucus plug and this morning I called the obgyn and they asked me to come in for a check to see if my water broke....went at 10:30 and after a checkup they confirmed that my plug was on its way out and I was about 30% effaced. But my water was intact, and estimated that I should possibly go into labor in about 2 weeks...ofcourse there is no hard and fast rule for this, but that was a good estimate for me to go by. I have no pains or any physical discomforts, and I just started week 36 today, so looks like I will have the baby early...my husband and I are going to do all the final getting-ready stuff this weekend, and then we just wait for the day the baby wants to make an appearance. I do hope the baby holds on for another 2 weeks as my parents arrive on Oct 3rd.
I still am pinching myself to believe that the d-day is around the corner!

Suni replied. Hi Girls,
Yes we are excited, but am trying to be good till week 37 is over, and since that is just a week away and I still have no contractions or anything, I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed that I will complete week 37. I am trying to take it easy and staying positive...I have not really felt any lightening, but then most of these things do confuse me, I am totally surprised that I recognized the plug!!! We will pack the hospital bag this weekend, the cord blood package has come so that is a good thing. Thank You So Much for all your wishes...now I will just wait out and see how the doc's predictions go....

Congrats!! your baby is on the way. Because you are still in week 36th , i'll suggest you to take rest till you pass week 37. Don't exert yourself too much.
I have one Q, did u feel the dropping or lightening also? They told in class that dropping also happens almost 2 weeks before or so.
I am due on 31st, & till now i was thinking its far, but after reading your message it seems so close now.
Wish you Good Luck.

U re thinking like me:-).Even I have similar plans ..want to hold the baby in there till Oct 1st as my parents are coming that day and also want to hold till Oct 4 atleast(my due date Oct 5th ;-)) because there is a big durga puja celebration near our home on Oct 3-5 and wouldn't want to miss it.Want to be there for a day atleast.:-) then I don't mind going to the hospital.
And besides I heard that most of first time babies are late ,so am convinced that I still have plenty of time:-)
Anu replied. Congratulations Suni. So, you are baby is on the way. Be prepared to welcome ur baby. Have you decided on the names? Also pack your hospital bag and keep it ready. As Radhika said, don't exert yourself. Take rest. When are you planning to take maternity leave. I am off from Oct 3rd. Waiting for that day. As parents are at home, don't feel like coming to work.
Thanks for posting this message. Because, I was not knowing anything about mucus plug. Now I know what it is and so I can notice when it happens.

Radhika replied. Congrats suni...have u stopped going to work by now..u were way end of the oct. month..try not to exert as much for a week or so.
I was wondering like kalyani how u came to know, blood seen? Take care. I am sure u will be fine. IF u have no pain and already effaced, guess we all have to be ready too or atleast prepared.
I am sure ur baby will wait for a week or 2 so grandma will be there to see it too. Glad to know ur moms are coming together. Take care. try to relax, they say u get a burst of energy just before delivery and u should save it for delivery and not go around cleaning up. So relax...All the best.

Name: Suni Subject: Recognizing mucus plug
Hi Kals,
Mucus plug looks a lot like lumpy white discharge, sometimes with a pinkish tinge.....I did not lose mine in one go....instead I am seeing it go over the last three days.
I spoke with my parents this weekend and they said that Manvi's mom's plans now coincide with theirs....this way they all have company. I will leave her a message too....thanks so much Kals, for passing the message...
At home, we are all prepared for the baby, only need to finish packing my hospital bag and we still need to buy a freezer to put in the garage for the storing of breastmilk....so hopefully we will be set by this weekend...it's fun waiting for the baby, right!
Love
