Health Issues:Problem in gaining weight

Hi all,
my baby' s birth weight is 3.39kgs, he has gained 1kg in first month, 1kg morse gained anyin 2nd month, he is now 3 1/2 months old. started turning around and trying to crawl on his stomach. he has gained just 150gms in 3rd month.
and again in 10 days he reduced weight and now he is 5.6 kg.
My baby is very active, playing, turning and feeding properly only breastfeed,properly passing urine,but i dont understand why he is not gaining weight. i consulted pediatrisian, he says its normal but your baby' s weight should be double the birth weight after 5 months, iam worried about that, please i need your suggestions ....please do reply

Hey Krish!

If I share my 8 month old baby' s statistics it might make you feel better. Mt baby waS 2.5 KGS and now at 8 months she is only 6.5 kgs. Inititally I used to worry a lot like you and concerned the best pediacs in town and got the same reply that as long as the baby is healthy responding to all stimuli, eating well, feeding well (especially breat feeding) there is nothing to worry. All babies are different hence no benchmarks would be appropriate.

Baby' s weight gain reduces as the activities increase. Right from month 1 my baby has never put on more than 600 gms/month and in the last couple of months she has also lost some weight due to teething. Hence these all her phases and dont be too concerned coz it will do no good to you or your baby.

Besides obese babies find it difficult to lose weight later...

Thanks for your reply.
I stopped worrying about my baby´ s weight gain but there is one more problem....my elders are saying i should start solid food for my baby because he is not gaining weight and showing interest on other foods..i consulted pediatrician, he says i can start giving solids as soon as he enters 5 months...now my baby is 3 and 1/2 months old... plz suggest me weather i can introduce solids to my baby in 5th month.
