Shy Kids:Communication

My son is 2 years 9 months old. He still can't speak. He can not communicate well. If he needs something,he holds my hand and takes me to the kitchen or to his room. The other kids of his age can speak or can atleast tell what they want. Sometimes we can't understand what he wants. If he can't convey the things he wanted,he will scream or cry and roll on the floor in frustration. We are very much worried about him.
We are trying every possible way to make him learn the language. He hardly can speak few words.
Even he does not know how to use those words to communicate. We are worried so much. How can we make him say words. He does not mix up with other kids. He just plays by himself. He is not shy.
He just don't want to play with other kids. We need help.

I am also in exactly the same situaton as yours.my son is 34 months old and just same as your kid.we sent him to day care,he picked up few words like pa pa,ma ma,he also hold my hand and points out what he wants,my daughter who is 16 months old started to talk.
so we have sont his speech evaluation and they said that he is 1 year behind in speech development.in US they are taking a long time for thereapy and they have not yet started.
if he can understand your commands, blow a whistle, make kissing sounds, respond to whatever you say then dont worry.he will be in the category of late speakers.this is what our speech therapist said.take care.

RE:Shyness right or wrong?
According to me you should take your child to a counselor and ask her what is the exact problem as this is not common and you should get into it as soon as possible and understand the real reason behind the same, please do not ignore this its a request.... - Anaida [View Message]
RE:Shyness right or wrong?
Hello dear this is really nothing to worry as its very common and you should not take this matter as a big concern as kids at this age are normally shy and they do not like meeting new people infact they want only their friends and all with them.... - Anita [View Message]
RE:Shyness right or wrong?
Hello madam this is really sad to see but then please speak to your daughter and ask her why is she doing like this and what is the exact problem because there might be chances that your daughter is hiding something from you and you should think on he same.... - Vijay [View Message]

Hey dear this is ok and you should not think so much as its very young age and you should not think in that way as i am sure she will develop more as the age passes and you will see the difference very soon so please do not worry at all and relax.... - Anu [View Message]
RE:Shyness right or wrong?
Hey dear according to me its completely fine and you need not to worry so much as she is very young and as time passes she will develop this in her, please do not worry and also do not force her also for the same as this is will really be a bad thing to do.... - Anita [View Message]
