in my 4th month i was having cough and cold problem and a slight temperature for which i was admitted at that period the doctor said that there is a slight swelling in my throat but i dont feel so it is that way right from the begining the doctor advised me to go for a tsh test. I have not yet done the test coz of time constraints. I just wanted to know whether the excess or less thyroid stimulating hormone in any way will affect my baby or me?

HI Sanjeevani,
While first trimester TSH levels drop as hCG amount increase. However hCG can compensate need at this stage. Around week 12, i.e towards the end of first trimester when hCG levels start to drop to maintain its threshold and parallelly TSH levels increase to satisfy need of TSH
I can see the point of your Dr. In this situation no matter what's your time difficulty you should get this analysis performed and confirm the levels are normal and you may be asked to repeat test on time to time.

You can talk to your Dr. about impact of TSH while pregnant.
