Breastfeeding:Lack of milk
2003-06-12
Name: Krishika

Hi!
I have a two month old daughter who I have been breastfeeding as well as top feeding with formula due to lack of milk supply. The more I seem to formula feed her the less milk I seem to be having. Can anyone please suggest any way in which i can increase my milk. I want to try and feed her till at least 6 months. Thanks.

hi krishika,
i have a two month old chap and my mother tried this for me and it worked. take a cup of basmati rice, put a few pods of garlic, and a little milk make a gruel out of it. that is do not strain the water the rice cooks in. Eat it during lunch.
point two: it is ideal to drink a galss of water just before starting a feed.
thirdly it is very psychological, just while you feed look at your baby and the moment the maternal instincts are awakened it works positively towards enhancing breast milk. this worked for me
fourthly, before a feed, swab a hot towel on your breasts it will enhance hind milk towards the nipples

Hi Krishika,
Even i had the same problem of less milk production, but lately i have been getting good supply. The reason being i used to drink lot of water not at a time in intervals. I mean have a cup of water as soon as u breast feed your baby. Also as Jasmine has told u feed your baby often of not pump it often. This really worked for me.
ALL THE BEST
Sandhya

Hi Krishika,
I'm in a similar situation as you are except that I realise I'm getting more milk than before. I normally breastfeed my daughter through out the day but give her one feed of formula milk, usually in the afternoons. I also express milk once a day and use that milk to feed her during the evenings. It seems to work well. The rule is - the more you feed/express, the more milk you will make. Try eating food/drinks that will help the flow. I realised that by eating a bowl of kheer, my milk supply is so much better. Have fresh cooked spinach and rotla - that helps as well. Good luck and let me know how it's going.

RE:Adult breast feeding
I was not breastfeed in my childhood hence the idea of sucking and feeding from a woman's full, engorged breasts has infatuated me. It is a fantasy that drives me wild like nothing else, just the thought of laying my head in a woman's lap while she brings her swollen nipples to my mouth. Ideally, I'd like to finally explore this with the right female. If you are in or near... - Sanjayhyd [View Message]
