my son is 3.8yrs and going to lkg.. he is a v.slow talker.. he never talks in school with his friends.. even when his teacher asks any ques, he never answers.. he is shy too.. he never talks with strangers.. b'coz of this none of his class mates sits near him.. he sits alone in the class.. iam v.much worried.. wat could be done..

Hi Chitra

First of all... do not worry and do not discuss this in front of ur son... just be normal.... maybe u can take him to the park and try to put him in places where there r lots of kids... and u try to encourage him and make him talk with the nearby kids... start small... first teach him to say hi... to any kid he sees.even if he does not want to tell... don't stop... eveytime u go out ust ask him to say hi... one day or the other he will... coz I do the same with my son... sometime he says hi and sometimes he does not... but I do not stop.. I will keep encouraging him.... ask him to say hi to the neighbours and also to people who visit ur home..... make it fun.. u can try and play games where he will need to talk.... and try go to places and play games which he likes.... listen to him.. if he does not want to talk... just leave him... do not force him...it will affect him if u pressurise him... if he is happy to sit alone let it be slowly he will get bored and then make friends..... just be by his side and support him .... he is a small kid... definitely he will open up.... be patient and do not worry..... only if u r happy ur son will be happy too... coz even if u feel upset kids can sense it and it will affect them..... also u can play games... like u can tell him if he says hi to all ur neighbours or ur visitors.. he will get a chocolate or something that he really likes or u can take him to a nice park or any kids place... basically u can do something he enjoys..... it will encourage him to talk and to open up... try and ask him how he feels when he is quite... ask him if he is sad, happy, bored etc... and ask him what he wants to do about it..... he will be just fine........ take care
