Due Date Club July 2005:priya & sheetal

Name: Hetal Nagaraj

hi,hows u and dhylan.

in morning, i give her cereal with 2.5 oz or sometimes more of fruits(in total of 2-3 fruits which will b some 1 feeding spoon of each or just 2 with each 1 oz - depending on which one your lil one likes ? ).

my lunch for her will include vegie khichadi + millet or barley home made cereal.
my target for her is 1 grain+dal+rice+vegie.but not wheat(heaviest of all grains).will start 1 piece of our thin gujarati roti in dal 4m next month.
nd everyday,my dal, myvegie or fruit changes,so taste is always different.
the idea i got 4m my bhabhi who is nutrionist,nd i often listen 2 her.my whole pregnancy i have listened 2 her advice nd sail thru it with not a single tablet of iron or multivitamin.even after csection,i did not have ne tabs or probs....
remember my gall bladder problem,it was coz of my weekly visits to cheese cake factory :))
no more now :) it went off....gods grace.
nd my bhabhi gives her son rice, then barley then millet nd lastly, oats.

i dont count exact amt as nirja is moody too but she does finish her meals,,,gods grace with that nd touch the woods of all the forests:))

late afternoons, ne fruit pulp with water ( juice ), some 1-2 ozs.most of the times, i give her long thick fruit pieces to play with,,she feeds herself,,1 or 2 pieces of a over riped fruit is great and just enough.she just sucks it and leaves the skeleton :)) LOL.

evenings, her food has more lighter vegies like zuchini, squash, avacado and some peas with overcook rice or rice cereal, with parsley.i used 2 give her spinach but coz she hs got diarea,so i stopped her fibre at nights.sometimes i give her overcooked moong khichadi( whole moong and sometimes moong dal with cover, 1 moong : 3 rice ),,specially when i give her potatoes or ne starchy foods.

Sheetal,
my khichadi comes out great,,,its so smushy i dont have 2 blend it..all work is done by cooker,,i have made a mixture of 1cup moong dal+1/8th cup chana dal+1/2 cup masoor dal+1/4th cup toor dal+ 4.5 cups of SONA MASOORI LAXMI BRAND rice -- sona masoori is lightest rice. you can use good brand of BROWN RICE available here,,its volume is same as sona masoori !
the reason i kept those proportions is according to their gassy nature, their heaviness and volume that will fill the tummy.tip from bhabhi ofcourse.

mix all well nd store in air tight container.

when in use,1/2 tablsppooon is enough 4 1 time meal of lil one.just add water, vegies, tumeric, parsley, hing nd whistle upto 5-6,,nd no blender is needed,,
water quantity i take is upto ur middle finger,1 and 3/4th way ( there are 3 grooves in 1 finger, take 1.75 groove from top of the finger when you put the hand inside the cooker :)
thats a traditional way i use..works 4 me...all the time for all rice items in microwave or cooker ! married 2 south indian, if rice is not flower like or is gard or abit watered,,,,he wont touch it......
also, couple of drops of our desi ghee, in lunch!!!

for overcook rice, use 1.75 groove, for us, use 1.5 exact !normal temperature water. u might get some water out of whistle in the last 2 whistle...

also, priya, its not needed 4 babies 2 have teeth 2 chew...old people dont have teeth, they chew slowly but they do..right,,i had my aunt staying with me, lost all her teeth and artificial ones didnt fit her,,she was 75 age, and she ate everything, but overcooked :)

but yeah, kids dont know how to chew,it takes time 4 them 2 do so.. wait nd keep trying.nothing better than they fill their stomach on their own..
talking about gums, their gums r hard enough to bite our nipples when we feed,,so they can cut an overcooked vegetable or just chew them until it dsolves nicely!!!!!!!!!!!!

not 2 mention, kids behave differently with foods acc to their individual interest,,we got 2 just watch and keep trying..wats best for our lil one :)

love to dhylan.
ok ladies, thats all i give to nirja,,ne tips, comments, suggestions,,do advice..
take care. nice day

Breast pumps
I am using a medela pump to feed my baby when I am out. The medela breast pumps are really a good choice for the working moms. We can pump the milk regularly and can store it and use whenever needed.... - dalewhither [View Message]
evenflo elan breast pump
Buy this pump! It’s made my life so much easier. I always got sore with my old Medela Advanced, but that never happens with the Ameda Purely Yours Breast Pump. What really makes a difference is its ease of use. It’s really easy to switch between pumping phases and take apart to clean. Strongly recommend it for all mothers that pump daily.... - stellatylor [View Message]

try this
As we discussed earlier in this forum I used magnetic alphabets , through which he has learnt alphabets within a week. And number within 4 days.
It is as like take the letter and stick to it where ever he goes more and ask him to search a particular letter. this worked very well for me.
all the best... - Manju [View Message]
