Due Date Club December 2005:Inducing labor - archie need suggestion

Hi All,
I had my doctor's appointment today, she schedule me one week early for delivery by inducing labor (I am due dec 15th) I am kind of concern that what if my water breaks early... I am 36 weeks and 6 days. I just wanted to know everybody's opinion is there anything to worry if the delivery is done by inducing and not by natural pain?

Hi anamika,

Even im due around 14th dec, but my doc is gng to induce pain once i start 38 weeks. Im in the 37th week now. It means only 5-6 days to go. He is going to induce me becoz my baby is big already ( a little more than 7 pounds) I also gestational diabetes and they follow this procedure for high sugar problem. Do you have any of these issues ?

According to what i have heard there 50% chances of natural and 50% for c-section. Ofcourse i would always prefer natural birth without inducing. But then whatever is good for the baby and whatever the doc suggests. Have faith. Everything will be fine.

Take care
Rids

Rids I do have GD and my OBGYN said that baby might be too big but she is not sure so I am going for US on 29th which will give us exact position and weight of baby...but I was concern about inducing labor just incase it fails which leads to c-section which I don't want.

Good luck with everything.

HI I do not want to scare you. But my induced labour failed which lead me to c-section. Naturally with no contraction pains my cervix dilated till 5cm at home. I was progressing slowly but with good results. But there was only 5 more days to due date and the doctor wanted to induce me. Everything was artificially done ( inducing water bag to break and inducing contractions pains) which did not work out for me and i had to bear induced pains for 16 hours which lead to c-section. Always Natural labour is better than induced labour. This is my opinion.

Very good doctor
Hi,

I delived a baby boy in March 2009. I consulted Dr.Chitra Ramamurthy during my pregnancy cycle. She' s one of the best doctors in Bangalore. Not many people know about her. She handled the entire process in a very professional manner. I used to visit her clinic in Jayanagar 3rd block. She is very caring and affable. She says what to do and what not to do. ... - Sandhya Rao [View Message]

So long as your baby is feeding, that' s all that really matters. These days, formulas are packed with everything the baby needs, and although it is never as good as breast milk, it' s perfectly fine. It sounds like maybe what you are missing is the bonding that breast feeding provides? My first child had both breast and bottle milk for the first 6 months, when I had a mis... - Jhumri [View Message]
