Due Date Club December 2005:Archie..your advice!

Hi Archie and all,

2 days back i had my first NST. Im in the 36th week right now. The NST was normal, heartbeat is good and fetal movement is also very good. My EDD was around 12th/14th Dec. But my gynac said he would induce labour in 38th week because my baby weight is on higher side. It is a normal practice they follow if you have GD. Baby is already 7 pounds and will add more in the coming 10-15 days. I have put on total 10 kgs.

My sugar readings r in control. Though ive been having a controlled diet and exercising everyday, my weight is gng on adding up. It doesnt show much on me, but the baby is big! So i feel im leaving everyhting to the doc and will let him decide whatever is best for my baby. Mostly he will induce me between 28th nov and 3rd dec.

Archie, when they induce labour what are the chances of having normal / c-section delivery in my case? The babys head is not yet engaged. But it is head down in vertex.

I have my next apptment and NST on 24th.

Wot is your advice? What else can i do?

Love

Rids,
Induction has same amounts of chance for vaginal birth as it has for the naturally occured labor.

Because fetus is on higher side it's not at all bad option to go for induction. Baby will desecend while in labor (inductions) don't worry for that.

Yes like Nandini said cord prolapse can occur while in labor and is due to inability of fetus to take labor stress or hyperactive fetus. This ends up in C-section.

Hai,
This is my first msg. in this coloumn. I have a boy who is 5 yrs. old and I too am expecting my 2nd baby around the 14th to 16th of Dec.2005. For my 1st son, Dr. induced artificial pain as the baby was well grown but he did not get his head fixed, though he was in the correct position. I went into labour for 8hrs. only after that a cesarian was done as the cord got caught around the baby's head. So in normal cases, even if pain is induced u can expect a normal delivery to take place....All the best and try to mail a reply.....
cheers,
Nandhini....

Very good doctor
Hi,

I delived a baby boy in March 2009. I consulted Dr.Chitra Ramamurthy during my pregnancy cycle. She' s one of the best doctors in Bangalore. Not many people know about her. She handled the entire process in a very professional manner. I used to visit her clinic in Jayanagar 3rd block. She is very caring and affable. She says what to do and what not to do. ... - Sandhya Rao [View Message]

So long as your baby is feeding, that' s all that really matters. These days, formulas are packed with everything the baby needs, and although it is never as good as breast milk, it' s perfectly fine. It sounds like maybe what you are missing is the bonding that breast feeding provides? My first child had both breast and bottle milk for the first 6 months, when I had a mis... - Jhumri [View Message]
