Due Date Club November 2003:How long one should stay home with the baby?

Hi girls,

I was wondering how long you all planning to stay home after baby is born? I meant, when is the right time to take baby out? Or go on a weekend trip or something.
Maybe second time moms will be able to answer this question. I will surely talk to pediatrician about this once baby's born. Also, wanted to know what are you guys planning to do.

Hey Arshiya, one of my friends took her baby to India a month after the baby was born... while I wouldn't be comfortable doing someting like that - cause of recycled air on the almost 20 hr flight ride and the effect on the ears - I think after the baby's first doctors visit we can take him/her on short trips..
and like vindhya said, it depends on our recovery too which could take quite a while depending on how the delivery goes...and on the baby too...

I was not planning on taking him out much (overnight trips or anything like that) until he is atleast 3-4 months old.. but we'll see how it goes...

but like you said, a pediatrician would know better... a few months back I was riding on the BArt and I saw this baby who seemed like no more than a month old, out with his mom...so I guess it is upto how comfortable we are with taking them out too...

Hi Arshiya,

One of the main factor would be the weather. I was thinking of taking her out after a month or so, again if weather permits. My husband wants to take my m-i-l to Las Vegas in January(incase she comes). It will be very hot there so not sure what we are going to do. Driving is out of question, we'll have to fly. In that case, then I'll stay in the hotel taking care of the baby, while they go out. Before this big trip, we might start going out to GG bridge etc., during weekends. I guess, we cannot start going out until we recover, I would say that would take 2-3 weeks.

Hey Vindhya,

Ya, I know our babies will be born in cold, so we really have to think about this. Well, we were also thinking of going to Vegas in first week of december since my parents and sisters will be coming here then. We are definately gonna fly though. And, since you will be going there in January, it won't be hot there. I have been there once during christmas time and it was kinda cold but not at all hot.
I also suggested my husband that I will stay home or in the hotel room but he thinks that's not fun for him. I think you are right, as long as we recover fine, we can go out then.

Diaper Service Provider,Bangalore
Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a Diaper Service Provider in Bangalore? They generally provide cloth diapers and replace them with a new set every 2-3 days.

Thanks in advance
