Nurseries and Schools:Frustated with Blore Schools !

Hi,
I am trying to find a school for my son in Blore. He is oct born. I am so frustated at the school rules.
One school says age criteria is 2'6\"; to 3 years for Montesorri I.
Second school says 2'3\"; to 2'9\"; for MontI
Third School says 2'8\"; to 3'2\"; for Mont I
Similarly .. every school says their own age criteria. If they take kids born in these 6 months only .. what should kids born in other 6 months do ??
If a kid of 2'3\"; joins Mont I it means it is just 5'3\"; in 1st std, Is the kid not too small to be in 1st std ?
Do these schools come under some rules of Karnataka Govt or they all have their own rules ??
I am totally frustated and angry with these schools ... I hope someone sues them !!!

Hi all....

My son is june born, I am planning to put him in a play school.... do u think he will have the age problem.

coz even I had the problem, I was august born .. the school rule was 5 years completion at the time of admission... but my father changed my date of birth... which I think was a very big mistake and then with the fake date I was admitted.... into an ICSE school. I was a just pass till 5th std and then my parents put me in SSLC and then I could do a lil better but I was always an average student never a good student and till date feel very very bad..coz of my poor and average studies... I never enjoyed school life... till date I never had a great school memory.. it was always bad I worked my ass off for my 10th and got into a good college ..in college I managed to still be average.... I do not want my son to go thru the same.... I do not mind keeping him home for one year and then putting him in school... so plz advice... do u think june born will be fine... right now he is at home... am planning to put him in 2007...

Dear Angry Parent,

I agree with Karuna. The most important issue for you is to first identify the school of your choice and then work within the specified parameters.

As far as age goes, it is always better for your child to be one of the older students in the group rather than the youngest. My son is July born and hence was one of the youngest in his class. He struggled all his way through school and it is a decision I regret to this day. He is now 17 years!

I hope this is helpful and wish you the very best of luck.

Kind regards.

Katherine

I can understand ur frustration as my kid is dec born. So he also falls in the same category that too with exactly 6 months difference. Choosing a right school for kid is a very crucial. there are many parameters which need to be taken care like the age criteria, distance from house, cbse/icse board etc. For a age calcualtaion you should take the reverse approach. For appearing into 10th board exam, the kid should have attained 15yrs which is compulsory. that means for 1std the kid should be 6yrs. and if i kid like mine is dec born is eligible in joining either at 5&1/2 yrs or 6&1/2 yrs. Again it should be parents choice when he want to put him in 1std. At the age of 5&1/2 yrs where hill be competing with and elder group of kids or 6 1/2 yrs where he will be elder by 6 months. And mostly the kids are not 1st June born to acheive exactly 6yrs. Either they are less by some months or more by some months. Its parents choice with which group they want their kid to compete with. and hence you can too the backward calculation for montessori also. Well, they montessori says, the kid should be the 3 yrs. that's why schools take admission around 3 yrs age group kid.

Hello there. I am in the same situation and find it extremely frustrating. The state ought to do something about this and bring some control over school admissions.

RE:What Toddlers Should Be Learning?
Toddlers are at a crucial stage of learning, where foundational skills for life are being developed. At Skillmatics, we believe toddlers should be learning cognitive abilities like problem-solving, memory building, and recognition of shapes, colors, and patterns. Language development, motor skills, and social-emotional growth are equally important during these years.
