Subject:  Best for IVF -Dr.Firuza

I think my Dr.Firuza is the best for the IVF treatment. I just can' t think of any other name if one wants to go in for an infertility treatment. She will never unnecessarily let u undergo any treatment if she is not convinced. When I did my 1st cycle with her my response was very poor from the scan. She immediately told me that she is discontinuing the cycle as she is seeing a very poor response. Had she been simply greedy of minting money she would have pushed me into the cycle further and would have completed it with a negative result, which she never did. And later on she was successful in making me produce the best ovums. She pays personal attention to each and every patient of hers. She never prescribes unwanted tests or procedures. A Doctor of her caliber doesn' t back out from writing and explaining the instruction sheets for her patients if any day she is short of staff. And I never found her doing it with any airs or any kind of hurry. I would like to mention here that I don’t fall into any high profile category of patients which she has treated. I am from a normal middle class background. But still I must have disturbed her n number of times for some simple or silly queries that arose in my mind and neither she nor any of her colleagues did at any point of time showed any irritation or made me look silly for that. All of them were ever willing to answer my silliest queries. Besides this they never held back any facts from me regarding my case. All I can say is that I can blindly trust Dr.Firuza and if she says it can happen it will.

Subject:  regarding your fibroids

Dear Shalini
Let me put things in perspective for you
When you came to me for my opiniion on 4/2/10 for your infertility I examined you and found fibroids one of which was pressing on the uterine cavity. You mentioned that the doctor in Delhi who had previously done a laparoscopy for you felt that there was no need to remove the fibroid which was pressing on the uterine cavity. I told you that these fibroids could have grown over the past. In particular there is a fibroid which has starting indenting ie putting pressure on the uterine cavity and could diminish your chances of pregnancy if it was not removed. I showed you the shape of the fibroid on the scan and the necessity to remove it. I also told you that after removing the fibroid we would have to wait for 3 to 4 months to allow the uetrus to heal. You expressed the need to do the IVF fast. My colleague Dr Sapna then explained you in details regarding the procedure that there should be a minimum waiting time of 3 months post surgery before we try IVF. When you said you wanted the IVF quickly in order to put things in perspective she told you that sometimes there is even a longer wait of upto 8 months before we do IVF This happens when patients have endometritis due to genital TB In that case we treat the TB for 8 months, try to strengthen the lining and then do the IVF My intention in making you wait is to make sure the lining and the uterus heals well so that we could maximise your chances. When you e mailed me saying that you wanted the sonography scans sent to you as you wanted to do the surgery in Delhi instead of Bombay I asked you to do a scan with Dr Khurana or do an MRI so that there would be no ambiguity of the size. The machine that we use is not outdated but small and used for follicular monitoring and hence may not give the clarity that a machine used by a dedicated sonologist would. I consider that I have given you correct advice. It is up to you to follow it or not. I do not consider myself as a \" big name\" but as a doctor who has the patient' s well being in mind. Wish you all the best in your endeavour to have a baby.

Subject:  Who´ s the best in Mumbai?

Hi all,
In my opinion and going by personal experience, Dr Firuza is the best. Of course, I have no personal experience with the other docs, so can' t comment abt them. Dr Firuza is honest, down to earth, no-nonsense individual.. very sharp and very focused. Her clinic is overcrowded and sometimes you have to wait hours on end. but believe me the end result is worth it.. She won' t make you run around for useless tests and her diagnosis is always bang on..She does everything herself including the ultrasound examinations.. She' s confident, compassionate and caring.. by all means the best, not only in Mumbai, but I' d say in the country!
