Hope you remember me. If i am still in the pregnancy as per my dates i should be starting my 8th week today. Last week(08/29) when i went for my 1st u/s i was 5 wks 5days but according to LMP i should have been 6wks 5days and the CRL was 2mm. The doctor didnt seem to be bothered by that last week. But this week yesterday(09/07) i was at work and noticed some bleeding when i went to the restroom, i called the doc office and they asked me to come immediately. When i went there the doctor did another u/s(intravaginal) and he said the baby is not growing. It is only 3mm which is the growth of 5wks 6days fetus but i should have been according to LMP 7 wks completed or according to 1st scan 7wks started. So he concluded that this bleeding is the indication of a miscarriage. I was very sad and depressed that this happened to me. But from yesterday night the bleeding is completely stopped, i am not even spotting and i have back pain but no abdominal cramps or anything. I know there is no hope for this baby ...but still i wanted to know your opinion. I am also concerned as the doctor mentioned that this fetus may either not live or might have some abnormalities. I am waiting for your reply.

I did comment on your lmp and gestation confusion, which is normal and I am not addressing it again.

Some spotting is normal and if you are not bleeding anymore you should feel OK.

Things go wrong in first trimester and if the developing embryo (before 7th week it's not fetus) if it has to die better if it does in first trimester, easier on you physically and emotionally.

If the bleeding is stopped and that you don't have cramps you don't loose hopes. However lower back sign might be an alarming situation or normal. If you are doing standing duties then stop doing that because that's the reason you might get lower back pain. If you are on the bed and still your lower back is paining then it's alarming. Otherwise back pain is normal in first triemster and in third trimester.

If nothing happens then why not to visit your OB in a week. if the size is larger than 3 mm then you might want to wait and see what happens. But yes, some time embryo can graduate to fetus and can die soon at the end of first trim or beginning of second trim. This is mainly due to chromosomal abnormalities those fail to develope organs as expected.
