Hello,
I am a 37 yr old middle class working woman with a one year old daughter. After my delivery i,e after 70 days i started getting pain in my hands ,shoulders such that i could not even lift my hand at all. When i consulted a doc, he said your resistance power has reduced due to childbirth and asked me to take Vitamin B1,B6 tabs . I started this and things went fine for around 8 months. When my child was around 10 months old, this pain started appearing again.
But now it surfaces in ths shoulders,elbows, fingers, wrists and make me immobile at that time. The pain subsides on the 3rd day and resurfaces in another area. The affected area will be swollen based on the intensity of the pain and sometimes there is redness too. Is this some kind of arthritis ? I am very much stressed and my working & parental/family life is getting affected very badly. My mother has Rheumatoid Arthritis from past 36 yrs and she too had similar symptoms in the beginning. Her hands & legs are very much disfigured due to arthritis. Is this hereditary ? Please help

As you all suggested, i started taking extra calcium (Shelcal 500 1 in the morning & 1 in the evening, took an advice with my gynaec who was +ve for it). My situation has improved, with mild to medium pain appearing sometimes. I also take care not to walk barefoot now.

a little relieved mom :) uma replied. i tried warm masturd oil and started taking calcium supplements. after 4months, it was gone.
hetal had told me to eat fenugreek seeds everyday either by mouth or in food.i was afraid i was having arthritis but after doing this, it has stopped now.it has been almost 8months.

my gynac also told me that i might have arthritis but i wanted to try these things as in the post it was mentioned that most women have normal arthritis after the deliveries and that is why we all eat all hot nature foods like garlic, fenugreek.

mom, if you are having arthritis you can confirm it by some test and then only try any medicines. if you are having normal body or joint pains like i had, the above things might help you and it might even go away.also, i read in one of arthritis site when i was afraid i was having it that all the above things help in arthritis too.so i think they are safe for you. for Massage take olive oil or any karva Oil or any Massage oil of south India Make it hot lit off the fire add in this grated white raddish let the raddish be cooked (without Fire) and after one hour starin the oil and keep it in the bottle use this oil for massaging (any body pain) for 3 days twice in a day and see the effects of same neelima replied. i hope hetal reads your query and helps you.she knows alot about these kind of things.

there was one post by hetal sometime last year, i could not find it.it was about arthritis only. i am sure neetu or someone will be able to find it for you.
hope you feel better. reema replied. wonder if u are still breast feeding your daughter.She might be draining you off your vitamins and minerals.take care of your nutritional requirements. have dairy products(as per daily requirements in pregnancy and breast feeding)as t contans calcum that can be good for your bones. personally , have taken mult vtamn tabs recommended for pregnancy and breast feedng and felt a lot better.
