Due Date Club December 2005:US update....Archie & everyone!

Hi everyone!

I was again unable to post updates since my net was down. Now im back online.

Heres my update. My pregnancy has been quite smooth except for the sugar problem. I was detected with GD in the 7th month. Therafter ive been taking insulin. The last report showed sugars well in control. Im on a good diet and walk everyday for about 45 mins. Im in the 35th week and had my US today. My gynac says that my baby has grown a lot. Baby weight in the 35th week is about 3.2 kg(close to 7 pounds). Do you think it is very high? How much do you think the baby will put on even further ?

My gynac has said that he will wait till 37th week. Otherwise he will induce labour. Current symptoms do not show that labour will begin soon as there is adequate fluid and even baby's head has not engaged. Baby is in correct head down position. But my gynac is really concerned about the baby weight. I have put on 9 kgs since pregnancy. But it doesnt show at all on my body. Its all going to the baby!!

How much weight have you all put on ? How much does your baby weigh at this stage?

Archie - Upto how much fetal weight do you think is a normal vaginal birth possible? I really dont know how im putting on weight. Im totally off sugar and taking insulin. Also having a decent diet with walk everyday.

I have to go for NST next week on 17th , then we will know the progress.

My actual EDD was 14th Dec and now US says it will be 25th Nov.

Awaiting your feedback and suggestions,

Thanks

your updates are quite soothing.
I think if you plan to wait till EDD your baby will be little over 9 pounds and thus likely chances for C-section. Many Drs. do not want to try you to push >9 pounds baby.

There is no such specific weight where you can't deliver vaginally. I know one of my friends who delivered her babies vaginally those were between 10 to 11 pounds. She is so thin no one can think she may have pushed these large babies.

I would have suggested to induce in 38th week and looks like your Dr. is planning the same, go ahead without concern.

your personal weight gain is very good nothing is wrong with it.

Archie

Dear Archie,

Thanks for your prompt reply. It is quite comforting to hear from you. Now im relieved to hear that there should not be a problem with labour induction after 37th week.

Thanks again

Very good doctor
Hi,

I delived a baby boy in March 2009. I consulted Dr.Chitra Ramamurthy during my pregnancy cycle. She' s one of the best doctors in Bangalore. Not many people know about her. She handled the entire process in a very professional manner. I used to visit her clinic in Jayanagar 3rd block. She is very caring and affable. She says what to do and what not to do. ... - Sandhya Rao [View Message]

So long as your baby is feeding, that' s all that really matters. These days, formulas are packed with everything the baby needs, and although it is never as good as breast milk, it' s perfectly fine. It sounds like maybe what you are missing is the bonding that breast feeding provides? My first child had both breast and bottle milk for the first 6 months, when I had a mis... - Jhumri [View Message]
