Some do’s and don’t after delivery I can tell u from my experience and some tips from old ladies and my nanima’s tips.

If u had a normal delivery do not leave ur tummy untied. Tie a cotton dupatta or a after delivery belt which i seasily available in the market.

For stitches.
Don’t wash urself with cold water .Wash the area with warm water mixed with salt every 15 to 20 mins. Heals stitches very quickly.

For constipation after delivery(the worst nightmare),Eat lotsa greens(lettuce, palak methi) vegetables and salads. Better to avoid maida and white bread. Use brown bread and wheat. oranges & banana are very good . Avoid apple if u have constipation.
Avoid ghee and oily food as its fattening and atleast 10 to 15 days we will be on complete bedrest and less activity we might put on a lot of weight.
Have 4 to 5 badams every morning before eating anything this is very good for the new mom as well the baby.
Intake of methi is very good after delivery. My MIL used to give me methi chawal with methi aloo as methi is very very good for ur back ache after delivery.
Add lotsa beetroot to ur diet as it is rich in iron. And we need iron not only before but after delivery too.
Do not drink cold water at all after ur delivery.at least for a month or two.
Drink warm/hot water/Lukewarm zeera water.
For good digestion a very good tip is to have zeera water.
How to make it: Roast a table spoonfull zeera on a hot tawa (roast till the zeera gets a bit yellow or light brown )and put the zeera into the water which is boiled .close the barthan with a lid and leave it for a while till the water turns a bit light yellow. Strain this water and u can use this water lukewarm the whole day. Better to use fresh zeera water everyday.

there are few more but i remember only these. when I remember i will post it.

Keep ur private part clean. clean in the sense without the hair. if ur due date is in dec then from the 1st week of dec try to clean every alternate day cos u never know when u will get into labor and the hosp. ppl get really annouyed with it if its not clean. and they usually clean it in a very rough way. clean every two days. also keep ur nails cut. do not grow them cos during labor u might hurt urself or the nurse or the doc while u are in labor. here in gulf they check u before u go to the labor room and if u dint cut they cut in a very rough way.

also do not wear any jewellery when u are going for ur delivery also keep ur hair tied with a good strong rubber band. cos u dont want to get irritated with ur hair. i dint tie my hair and had a tough time. i was in pain and my hair was really disturbing me. so better tie. if u have real short hair wear a band.

All the best to u all. if i remember anything else i will post it.

Subject:  Two more tips!

There are two more tips that I have heard:

* Before delivery - Start taking one spoon of pure ghee in one cup of milk everyday, as soon as the ninth month starts (this has been suggested by Archie also, but, I do not remember, whether it is to be taken, once a day or twice a day).

* After the delivery - Have one spoon of 'Shataavari' in milk everyday; this helps in increasing the milk as well as in providing us strength.

Very good doctor
Hi,

I delived a baby boy in March 2009. I consulted Dr.Chitra Ramamurthy during my pregnancy cycle. She' s one of the best doctors in Bangalore. Not many people know about her. She handled the entire process in a very professional manner. I used to visit her clinic in Jayanagar 3rd block. She is very caring and affable. She says what to do and what not to do. ... - Sandhya Rao [View Message]

hi
So long as your baby is feeding, that' s all that really matters. These days, formulas are packed with everything the baby needs, and although it is never as good as breast milk, it' s perfectly fine. It sounds like maybe what you are missing is the bonding that breast feeding provides? My first child had both breast and bottle milk for the first 6 months, when I had a mis... - Jhumri [View Message]
