Ritu replied. Hi,
Ours was planned. Just like Radhika, we had been married for 6 years and realised there would never be a perfect time. It took us 2-3 months before I got pregnant. When I found out I wasn't excited at all, infact was a bit terrified and felt really weird. It took me a bit of time to come to terms with it, as I never was too fond of kids and never ever picked up anyone else's kids.
What gave me satisfaction was that my husband was really happy and I was relieved that atleast one of us was sure of this being the right thing.I know this might sound silly atleast that's what many girls around me felt about my reaction.
Now with only 3 weeks to go, I still keep having mixed feelings. Sometimes I really have strong feelings for the baby and at other times I don't feel anything at all.
But one thing I am sure of is that everything will be great after we have the bay. I also know it will be now two babies for all of us , our husbands and the little one .
All the best to everyone - Ritu
Radhika replied. Hey girls..
Hope everybody is doing fine. In our case it was planned. We've been married for over 6 years and been together nearly 9 years. Finally, finally realized that theres never going to be the \";perfect\"; time.
Getting pregnant was easy, so am very grateful to God!! Really looking forward to being parents now (of course are very intimidated as well.)
Btw, is it just me, or is anyone else very tired of being pregnant by now????
Take care!!
Radhika
Vindhya replied. Avi,
I got married last January and my husband was away till May. I always wanted to have a baby, and was never on any contraceptive. But, it took us 10 months to get pregnant. I missed my cycle on March 22nd and had a feeling that I would be pregnant(I had slight back ache). So, waited for 6 days just incase it was a false alarm or something. On march 28th, I did a pregnancy test and Voila! it came back positive. I was the happiest, and we have recorded the moment which I will cherish all my life.
So, do you tell this planned or un-planned? Whatever it is, I am happy for it.
While on this topic, are you planning to take birth control pills or any other contraceptive if you are not planning to have your second one right away?
Vindhya
Priya replied. Ours was planned..went to the doc. in Jan, and come Feb., I was pregnant! ( of course I did'nt find out until first week of March. I suspect this one's a Valentine's Day gift!
Funny thing tho' is the EDD in November..you see both my husband and me have birthdays in November, and we're both Scorpios...if baby comes on time, then that's what he's going to be too ! So everyone around us has been asking us if we planned that too !! We did'nt...
Priya
Simmi replied. Hi Avi. Lovely to know you had a surprise and that you are glad it happened at the right time!
Mine was planned, though hubby was more enthu about it, I was having mixed feelings, with regards to body being ready etc. Started having tabs and agreed to try and there it happened as soon as we started and didn't take a test for some time just to make sure I don't get wrong signs. And when I did, one test and I was convinced it has happened.
I'm sure all happens for the best.
Love, Simmi
Arshiya replied. Hey, Good question!
We heard from friends that it would take you on average about 6 months to conceive. So, as soon as we moved into our new house in Nov, we thought of started planning in Jan. So we did, and booooom, I was pregnant in Feb. So, We were like wow this was quick. Because, first we had thought ok if start planning in January, we might conceive around April or May but second month not expected.
But, we were happy that it happened quickly than waiting for a long time and nothing would happen. I think that would be really sad.

Name: Simmi Subject: It's not unusual
Hi Ritu. I agree with Avi, what you felt and feel, the apprehension is not unusual. Even I had mixed feelings when I found out, as it is very daunting for women, body changes, the changed lifestyle that would follow after the baby arrives. So one is bound to feel confused and unsure. Men on the other hand just have the fun to enjoy so they reactions are filled with more enthu. I guess that makes us feel a little guilty for feeling unsure at times. But don't worry, here we are not judgemental, we are all in the same boat and have had similar feelings sometime during the pregnancy. So let ur mind free, share ur thoughts n i'm sure like Avi said, once the baby is here...things will just fall in place and ur heart will make room for the little babes too.
Happy weekend.

Ritu, I dont think what you felt and still feel sometimes is strange at all...Bonding with the baby sure doesn't happen immediately.and it is certainly scary to even think about being responsible for another human being...but I am sure once you see him/her you will fall so deeply in love.. u will forget that you ever felt any kind of anxiety at all about having him/her..
It took me a while too before I could even accept it and it all feels like a dream even now..I never carried an infant either cause I was scared of little babies (I carried my neices and nephew's when they were 7 or 8 months old)....so the first infant I will carry is going to be my own... :) and I am so darn scared about it....
We will be just fine...with taking care of two kids... :)

Hey Radhika, same here we've been together for more than 8 years now and like you said, although we didn't plan on anything we were starting to believe that the "right" time will never come... and like you although anxious about whether or not I will be a good mom (hubby is responsible, so I know he will do just fine) I sure am glad that we will be parents ......
I am ready for the little one to be out..although I have nothing ready for him yet...the aches and pain are getting a bit overbearing and am getting tired of eating and drinking water...

Hi Vidhya. Lovely to know that the baby planning fitted the timing perfectly for you. Thx for sharing.
I agree with Avi, contraception should be men's job. We do a lot otherwise. Also, when you are breast feeding you wouldn't want to have any tabs though I know that we are more fertile during that period so precaution ought to be taken for sure. Get the hubby on the case and take some load off your mind.
Have a nice weekend.

your situation is quite tricky Vindhya, could say planned cause you wanted kids but then it could be unplanned too cause you were not actually planning on it.. hmmmmmm :)
Glad u guys are happy with the outcome...and your wish to have a baby is soon going to become a reality...sooo great. thanks for sharing..
By the way, I saw some baby record books at target's baby section, do check them out so that you/and the baby girl will have a book for all the US pics, other recorded in the form of pics kinda momemts..you can even write little notes for her to read later on..
I was never comfortable with the concept of taking birth control pills .. so I dont think I will go that route ever... but a combination of abstinence :) & male contraceptives is what I will follow....
we ladies do quite a bit, so time for our men to do their share.. :)
