Due Date Club December 2005:Hi (father here)

Hi All,

I have been reading your posts from April this year and trust me your experiences have helped me to be a better husband. I was able to relate to all the vomiting ,mood swings ,back pains etc which my wife faced in a much better manner. The tips and Archies encouragement has been phenomenal.

Now something about us. We are having our first baby on Dec 2005 (21st December) , my wife Gerita is also a working woman and she has a role of handling customers across the counter(she works for a bank) . The morning sickness days were terrible for her , but all that is in the past. Now she is at home on leave and is enjoying the babies kicks and movements. We could feel our babies movements from the 5th month onwards and the movements always have been heavy movements(by heavy I mean you could actually see her stomach moving like a water bet). We have got registered at Malad and I guess now the countdown begins. I never wrote to this forum , waiting to see if any men actually wrote , and then start. Lot of guys do go through this site and I think there should be a forum for expectant Fathers too.

Anyways , I am just waiting for December and hoping everything goes well. I have just 2 questions I any one can help me out.

1) We just got ourselves a neat handycam and I caught my wives tummy move with the babies movements on the camera. Now many ppl tell me not to shoot too many snaps and videos of the baby----some superstition.Wanna know how seriously should I take this? I am just waiting for the baby to be born to capture all movements and moments.

2)What are the best diapers avb in the market? Our doc said that even a new born can use diapers as it helps to keep the baby dry and so its better if we use diapers.

Chalo bye for now and my hear felt wishes to all the ladies here , you all are wonderful ladies and will be wonderful mom's as well. Through all pains and sleepless nights my wife experienced she still keeps smiling every day and night. Hats off ladies you are leagues above men.

Love
Staney

Dear Stan,
There are a few men who come here either with concern or take active part in this process. I find either of them are sweet at their position.

Your words of praise exhibit what a geltlemen you are! your wife will have the most easy labor with your company.

your concerns:
1. Remember you can have as many ultrasound as possible so the pictures don't really create waves touching tummy and won't have effect at all on your fetus. I believe taking pictures or shooting with handycam from a distance should be fine.
To believe in myths or not is absolutely individual choice, as Nandini already marked it.

2. The diaper issue is addressed pretty well by Nandini. Go and try first a choice of your brand diaper and decide which is good. Yes, diapers are indeed bliss because baby don't cry as frequent as it does with cloth diapers. Because cloth diapers give wetness feeling very soon while these disposable diapers have better absorbant capacity. However remember to keep baby free of diaper for about 3-4 hours/day. This will keep baby far from diaper rash and also change diapers as it's noticeably wet.

Hi
Pleased to meet you.
I am nandini here in my 33rd week due on 1st jan with my 3rd baby.
All the best to u and ur wife Gerita.
Regarding ur 2 questions.
1st one is personal wish.It depends on whatever u believe
As my folks used to forbid us from purchasing any baby items fr the baby befre its born but nowadays people totally create a baby nursery befre the d date.So i think u can go ahead and click
As far as the 2nd question goes every baby has his own sensitive skin. For my first child Pampers suited very well.JOhnson products gave him rashes(my peaditrician was against johnson Products)In the first week he was covered with red blotcheson his face as if they were heat boil.Being our first child i didnt realise thought it was normal till we went fr the first check up he asked whether we were using johnson pwder(thats what everybody gives u as presents also)
asked us to stop it and use pears In afew days he had clear complexion.
For my second child pampers gave rashes on his inner thighs so I was using very rarely diapers .He had a dry skin so frm the beginning peaditrician advised Oilatum soap and cream.
I found Lido diapers very good fr him as just within a hr of puttin him in a diaper he used to ve marks like scratches on the inner thigh where the diaper ends are.
So go slow on diapers try see which one suits him then decide as they cant talk but the marks on the thighs will tell u and all the antirash cream are just ok doesnt help much.
If the skin is sensitive it is.
Other than pampers ,lido ,Teddy diapers are also very good .
the older one was fat and the thighs used to rub but Teddy was comfortablefr him.
Huggies is bad.
So i hope this helps.
bi fr now.
nandini

Very good doctor
Hi,

I delived a baby boy in March 2009. I consulted Dr.Chitra Ramamurthy during my pregnancy cycle. She' s one of the best doctors in Bangalore. Not many people know about her. She handled the entire process in a very professional manner. I used to visit her clinic in Jayanagar 3rd block. She is very caring and affable. She says what to do and what not to do. ... - Sandhya Rao [View Message]

So long as your baby is feeding, that' s all that really matters. These days, formulas are packed with everything the baby needs, and although it is never as good as breast milk, it' s perfectly fine. It sounds like maybe what you are missing is the bonding that breast feeding provides? My first child had both breast and bottle milk for the first 6 months, when I had a mis... - Jhumri [View Message]
