Due Date Club November 2003:Travel System

Hi Everyone

I am in a lot of confusion which travel system or stroller and car seat to buy. The Peg Perego stroller http://www.amazon*com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00008W746/qid=1065724068/sr=1-6/ref=sr_1_6/102-4958624-4918560?v=glance&s=babystroller

looks great but car seat that goes with it is too small I think only it can be used for the baby till 3-4 months only. Any suggestions for a lightweight stroller that is either a part of travel system or stroller which has a car seat that lacthes on. Cause I definately want a car seat that can attach to the stroller. Thanks in advance

Tina

Tina,

After a lot of research (both online and offline, reviews and friends) we have bought the Peg Perego Plikomatic (shower gift actually).

The reasons I went for Peg Perego:
1, All my friends who own it have had it for at least a couple of years and are very comfortable using it for their second kids as well.

2, It is easy to fold and light enough to use in the city (which is a huge necessity for us.) (The Aria you are looking at is even lighter and folds pretty easily.)

3, I really, really like the way these strollers look. (A personal choice).

4, The car seat is comparable to any other infant car seat in terms of the weight it will carry. As Avi mentioned as well, all infant car seats carry upto 20lbs and then you have to move upto a convertible car seat.

Having said that, sometimes I do wonder if all the above justify the premium for this piece of gear. Of course cant answer that question till I actually use it (but again havent met a singly unsatisfied consumer till date.)

Good luck!!

Radhika

Tina, most of the travel systems I have seen have car seats that can be used till the baby is 20 pounds heavy..so I guess we will need to keep buying carseats as the baby keeps growing.. also we need to change from rear facing to front facing car seats at some point of time (I dont know exactly when)...
I was going to buy a system that would allow us to keep replacing car seats.. and I think some/all graco systems accomadate that..

Lets see what others have to say about that..

I didn't press him for more details for the same reason as you Vindhya....just assumed I would go to babiesRus and check out if they have systems like the one he described...

Whichever one of us goes to babiesrus first (i think it will be you) can update the other on this...

Avi,

I do have heard something like that from my colleague. He said Babies R'Us had that facility, but didn't ask him the details as I felt that I would look stupid.

Thanks for sharing it anyway,
Vindhya

Vindhya, my hubby's collegue was telling me that some travel systems come in such a way that you can replace the 20 pound limit car seat with the one that allows for a 40-45 pound baby.. He told me that he bought his system at Costco and I assumed that Graco would allow for something like that too...

Do I make sense (have you heard something like this) cause I might be speaking out of pure ignorance and from not understanding what he meant..

Diaper Service Provider,Bangalore
Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a Diaper Service Provider in Bangalore? They generally provide cloth diapers and replace them with a new set every 2-3 days.

Thanks in advance
