I have been going through unexplained infertility , tried every thing ..finaly my doc has put me on glucophage( diabetic tablets).she assured me for some people it works..my question is is there any side effects??..for how long I can take this??..pls help..thanx..

hai malini,even i had prob in conceiving,my doc also suggested for diabetic tabs,half tab in morning and half at night. u asked abt the problems ,fatigue and loss of weight.tats what probs i faced.hey malini pl don't panic.i have shared my experience with u malini.i have conceived within 2 months.lets hope for the best malini.

Please confirm of your diabetic nature or I suggest to first go for serum insullin test before continuing any diabetic tablets otherwise they are of no use.

Hi,

I have PCOS and I have been taking 2000 mg of Glucophage (Metformin) daily to help with the side effects of PCOS. These pills are given to women who have been diagnosed with PCOS and are insulin resistant. PCOS patients are prone to Type 2 Diabetes, and taking this medication prevents its onset. If a women is overweight and taking these meds, it will help her to lose weight and maintain instead of gaining.

There are a number of side effects, thirst, frequent bathroom trips, indigestion, heartburn etc. but after 6mths of treatment or less they will subside. This drug also helps with fertlity medication (clomid, femara etc.) as it helps with ovulation induction.
