Health Issues:way too low on growth chart...pls help

My baby is 6 months old (4 months is his corrected age as he is 10 weeks premature). His weight is 12.5 lbs and height is 25.2 inches. His weight is on the 10th percentile of the chart and height is on 50th percentile. Now I am little concerned about his weight n height. He generally takes about 20-24 ounces of milk/day...around 2-3ounces/every 3 hrs. If i try to feed him more..he resists and vomits all of it. So i stick to 3 ounces of formula (Similac Neosure). Can anyone let me know how i can encourage my baby to feed more? i cant bf him as milk supply stopped. I have not yet started feeding him solids, as he is 10 weeks premature...going to start his solids may be in a week from now. I would be thankful with any suggestion/advice..

Semi solids is of course the option

Hi Anu,
Though the baby is premature or born as per due date, once the baby is born we should calculate babies age by birth date and not my gestational age.

I think you should start with semi-solids as you say your baby is low on growth chart. Normally if babies are not exclusively on BF and the weight is low then doctors ask to start solids around 4 months itself.

Start with rice/raagi/apple/banana/daal-paani.
Message board on feeding sould be able to help you better with regard to food for 6 months baby.

Your pediatrician should be able to help you better.

Hi Anu,
Thanks for ur suggestion. I just started giving my baby rice cereal. He is doing fine (1 spoon of cereal in half ounce of formula). In a week i´ ll feed him other foods and hoping that he gains weight (fingers crossed). Once again thank you and have a fun time with ur kid.
