Hey guys, did you experience any false contractions (BH's) yet???????

I thought I did the other night but I could have mistaken heartburn to be contractions cause it seemed to last for a bit more than a few mins :)...

I know Simmi felt them once..

I wonder if everyone will experience them one time or another before labor...

Hi Avi,

Braxton Hicks contractions are the ones where you uterus contracts. You can distinguish them from normal movements as the ones during which you can see your tummy contracting and also see/feel the feet or elbows poking out. I have too many of these and I am sure you too must be having them.

You are right Ritu, I do feel something similar to what you mentioned...and like Priya, I feel the stomach hardening thing after eating...I guess I just cant tell if they are BH's or not...

Hey Priya,

Wow, this means I have been feeling these for weeks. I never knew that because it happens only after having meal so I thought it was just my tummy being full and baby movements. Ya, it surely doesnt hurt but when I touch tummy, it feels like rock hard. But, it goes away in like less than 5 minutes.

I will have to talk to my doc about this.

Avi,

From 26th week, I have been feeling some tightenning on the bottom of the uterus. Based on the information you just discussed, I guess it is something else. I've never felt my tummy tight. By the way, they are painless and happens when I walk a lot without having enough water.

Avi,

Did you check with your doctor about the painful contraction you had last week in the middle of the night.

I think your body is ready to go for the big ones. Drinking lots of water can avoid them too.

Vindhya, I was told in our class that the tightening could be anywhere on the tummy... so what you are feeling could be it..

and like Priya said, we were advised to rest (or move around if you feel them while you are resting) and drink some water...

Hmmmmm... well, I guess my uterus doesn't want to practice for the real thing yet...

Avi,
I have been feeling Braxton-Hicks since week 28...they are more pronounced when I walk. Its like your whole tummy tightens and becomes hard ( I thought it was just fetal movement initially, but was later able to distinguish between the two...my doctor confirmed it). Actually, coming to think of it, it happens less often now than it did a few weeks ago. Does'nt hurt at all, just feels a little wierd.
Arshiya, I felt these tightenings at the top of the uterus.

My doctor advised me to rest for a bit and drink some water if you experience them.

Hey,

I don't think I have experienced them at all yet. But, I maybe mistaken with my other pain.
Do you feel this BH Contractions in your tummy or vagina area? Sometimes, I feel my tummy is getting to tight but I don't know if that's BH but it doesn't hurt.
