Hi,

I'm 25 weeks 3 days pregnant.I had a very complicated previous pregnancy due to BP problems. In my visit to doc yesterday I mentioned
her about the slow down in fetal movements I was feeling for a few days.Eventhough babysize measurement done externally was good, she told me to go for an ultrasound to make sure everything is fine.US technician told me verything looks fine and my baby weighs 1 lb 7 oz .But evening doc called me and told that baby is a bit small for my gestation age,but don't need to worry. She recommended me to go to a high risk pregnancy specialist after 3 weeks.I'm really worried. Is my baby too small? What I can do to pick up normal baby weight?Regarding my weight,I was 146lb ,on my first visit on second month and lost 4 lb by the end of 1st trimester and now my weight is 154 lb.My bP is fine .It's always around 100/60.pls answer me

Dear Mom1
If your baby weight 1 pound 7 ounce at around 25 weeks it's not terribly small. It's towards the lower limit range or just around the size of it's gestation, your baby at this time can be little over 1 pound 8 ounce (1 pound 7 ounce is not really different).

If your height is 5'6\"; or in the range then your weight prior to pregnancy sound fabulous, and if you height is lower than 5'4\"; then your weight before pregnancy is little towards high side. High side weight is one thing to indicate that later in third trimester BP like complications are likely. Not necessarily you will have but keep yourself known about some facts.

Loosing 4 pounds and regaining 8 pounds (without considering lost weight) in about 25 weeks if great. I would say if you gain all together weight around 20 pounds for your weight before pregnancy it is still great. Do not worry for weight part.

Keep eating healthy. I think eating nutritious poultry, dairy will help boosting baby weight in limit, don't eat lot of fats before week 33, then also just use some fats (oils) in seasoning and that will help baby to get nutrients.

Dear Mom1,
I do not regard your case as a low weight baby. I see it as any normal and I think it has nothing to do with your weight or gender of fetus.

It's all likely to do with nutrients that you are on. Remember your weight needs to be monitored, do not gain weight more than 25 pounds or around that.

Take care
Archie
